I see these weather events and forget that March is NOT prime tornado season. We're even getting the occasional tornado in the Pacific Northwest, and those used to be once-a-decade or so events.

Let's put domes over the cities and those of us out in the wilds will burrow in.

Crazy is getting to be too common.

Quire a bit of lightening, then a wall of torrential rain ,couldn't see a thing, which is disconcerting because of the danger of rain wrapped tornadoes.
It blew over us here in SW Ala. then the temps started dropping. Low of 38 tonight.

Those type of storm bands usually produce tornadoes at some point in Miss/Ala.

not every fucking person in these states are repugs. So please don't lump us all together as "them". Thanks

And if I misinterpreted your post, I apologize. I just hate the characterization that ALL people in these states are deplorables.

Weather Underground's map of the cone of expected movement of the tornadic activity shows the possibility it will maybe go south of us.

That does not make me feel safer...

My husband just got home from helping his brother clean up damage from Hurricane Michael at his place in Bay County near the intersection of US 231 and SR 20. He's worn out and we don't need another disaster in the family right now.

Weather Underground has dropped the warning for our part of Leon County. NWS shows it farther east and still to the south of us. I think we've dodged a bullet!

My husband and I had a cruise scheduled and left early to avoid the storm bands. The cruise before us on the ship had it rough - had to stand off the Caymans because it was too rough to dock. Then the passengers had a rough return to Tampa with lots of sea sickness. Our cruise was smooth, great weather and the day we got back our power was restored so we missed the entire thing. We lost a couple of trees on the farm and a lot of branches that had been damaged in Hermine and Irma finally came down - and are still coming down.

My husband's family didn't fair so well. Both sisters' houses had slight damage and they lost all their trees. One brother was still living in their mother's house which was ready to be listed for sale. It had the new metal roof split off - but the old shingles kept most of the rain out so there was minimal damage. His other brother's place lost both front & back porches, but his father in law's house was totaled. Between the two families, they owned over one hundred acres of planted pines - they say the trees look like a giant game of pick up sticks with the trees thrown down every which way. All the oaks around his house were blown down - and they had sited the house to be in the middle.

No we don't need any more disasters but that seems to be our lives these days...

Thank you!

All the beautiful trees were gone and an old man told me they'll be back in seven years and they were back.

Glad you enjoyed the cruise.

I worry about my brother in law's father in law. He's about 90 years old. He's owned that property for over sixty years and lived there exclusively since he retired. That's why my brother in law bought a place next door - so he and his wife could help take care of her father's property. He had developed trails all over his 100 acres, selectively cut and managed the trees, encouraged the wildlife, and since his wife died it was his entire life.

Since Michael he has not attended any of the family get togethers. His house was destroyed along with most of his possessions of a lifetime and he is living with his other daughter and spending some time at my brother in law's house. They bought a mobile home but have not been able to get a septic tank or electrical put in since the entire system is so overloaded with people needing places to live.

He will not live long enough to see the property he loved for all those years restored to even a semblance of what he had made it.

That is so sad - losing everything familiar is losing way more than property
When that old man told me about the trees I was young. Not sure I'd live to see them grow if we were hit with a big one.

We're cleaning up the farm after nearly twenty years of semi-neglect (between bad finances and my various surgeries). Hopefully we will live long enough to see the effects of our current work. We've owned this place for over forty years and did a major clean up when we bought the abandoned pig farm, planted thousands of trees, and got to watch the progress from that for decades.

I'm hoping we will have the time to really see the effects of the work we're doing now - his Mom lived to her late 80s, mine to her late 90s - but there are no guarantees. The real plans I am making now are for ways to make sure this property is preserved after my death and that it isn't sold to developers.

When we help rescue people who are trapped under the debris of their flattened house, I guarantee you no one asks if they deserve it, no one asks to see their voting record, no one turns away if they see a different skin tone.

If that storm that hit us had flattened my house, the last thought on my mind would be to turn away the help of my community because someone might be different religion, or no religion, or a republican.

all Southern blood is red..

When warm moist Gulf air moving north clashes with cold dry air moving west. This is the danger time.
