It kills me that in 2019

a Democratic politician can't point out that having laws that require a pledge not to join an economic boycott of another country is

A) unconstitutional and
B) against the ethos of the country, where protest, speech, and voting with your dollars are common

And she can't point out that human rights abuses can't be spoken of (depending on who the two parties, abused and abuser, are).

I mean, what the hell. Regardless of her gender, color, or religion. These are bedrock positions for this party.

the government of Israel keeps stomping on the human rights of Palestinians

and

calling into question these state laws (like in Texas) that demand government workers pledge not to take part in the BDS movement

and the right wing freak out, and lies about antisemitism, that followed these blindingly obvious observations.

And, especially, the inexplicable response of many Democratic politicians also rebuking her. It's beyond strange to me.

politicians.

You know what is SO refreshingly interesting about how all this is playing out?

It is that all these new, young women-of-color in Congress really aren't beholden to anyone, so they are speaking truth to power and coming out against corruption. I really like watching this because it's making the establishment very uncomfortable with its ingrown corruption.

And don't get me wrong - I'm not cutting down Dems, but the corrupt system as a whole. The corporate influence, super PACS, big oil, big pharma, the whole disgusting piece of crap thing brought to us by a capitalist system focused on the primacy of the shareholder.

But Omar doesn't care about all that, because no lobby 'owns' her. Same with AOC. It's causing some friction that is kind of fun to see.

I like it too. Shows how great our representation can be if we just get $ out of so much of the system.

We don't need to justify anything. M. Garland comes to mind. Do and say what you feel is right, then disapear like McConnel does. Pretty simple. Stop engaging the media that wants a back and forth. Do the right thing and go home at the end of the week. Do JUST what the gop does when they do something scandalous.
