I can't tell you how many times I got calls from the development office or a rich alum who wanted some "special consideration" for admitting a kid to our professional college. 99 percent of the time, the student did not have even the minimum grades for admission. Somehow they always had decent ACT and SAT scores that did not match their academic history.

My Dean hated these calls and always told me not to sign the forms to override admissions. I always made him sign them, I didn't want my name on those things one bit.

I can only remember one of them that managed to graduate, just barely. The others ended up transferring because our Dean would not "play ball".

This has been going on forever. How do you think GW Bush and Trump got into top tier schools?

I should add that this is not just one institution, this happened in 4 different ones in different parts of the country.

I am fairly certain that this has been going on at about 10% of the institutions and for at least 50 years. I am being very conservative in my assessment. I have heard about this the whole time I have been in the education profession and it is almost "normal".

Wait till the NCAA gets their day in the Sunlight. Believe there are investigations into money and recruiting in the South East Conference.

there are more fixers out there, but this investigation happened by accident and so far has only involved this one man.

Hopefully, the wide media coverage will force the FBI to further investigate college admissions rigging.

Also, this wasn't just handing money over to the dean or admissions officer, these were complex frauds that took a lot of players.

One example is a Chinese girl where a soccer coach wrote a letter saying the applicant was being recruited as a top tier athlete, and that she was a member of the junior national team in China. They staged photos of her playing, photoshopped others, and forged documents to create this bogus background of her playing soccer. She had never played soccer of course.

Didn't they get the message that certain magic zip codes translated to automatic admission to private colleges? Had they just waited a year or two, the recruiters would be knocking on their doors, begging their child to attend their institution; to Hell with SAT scores, GPA, and all that shit.

And, was nominated for a zillion awards for that role. It's interesting to me they always mention Desperate Housewives, instead. I know her best for Transamerica and American Crime.

I also wonder why her husband wasn't charged.
