Well, a total of 7.5 years!

All the dirty schemes to rip off the country and then interfere with witnesses then lie for Trump and Putin! What is the paid back 7.5 years in jail? I was hoping Manafort would get a bigger sentence, but Judge Jackson deemed it was good enough on her part. We may disagree, although there is more to come! Now Mueller had better let loose now with the higher up indictments! This country has had enough of people stealing and lying!

1. I would have liked the sentence to be longer, but I won't complain.

After living his life of fancy suits, lobster and caviar every night and mansion living, even 5 years of being in a prison cell will be absolute torture. And at 70 years old, it's going to be very, very difficult on him.

4. I've seen other posters mention he may still get hit with state charges in the future.

If that happens, tack one another two or three years, and it's not good for him. We'll see what happens.

6. The Ukrainians may want their pound of flesh too.

His future isn't all that bright.

He might want to get a set of these:

3. Well, he'll get credit for time served...

So heíll only have about a zillion times more in prison than Iíd ever want to do.
And it couldnít happen to a nicer guy.

5. The message" White white collar crimes do pay. The judicial system has also been destroyed by

Trump. Trump's first pardon said it all.

13. He didn't get off easy. He's had to forfeit most of his assets, and he was given a sentence

in the middle of the sentencing guidelines (the maximum 10-year sentence would have given Trump a better excuse to pardon him, IMO). He'll be old and broke when he gets out. Sounds reasonable to me.

15. Maybe old and broke, but not beyond wheeler-dealin' again.

Youíre never too old to pick up the phone and try to talk your way into some get-rich-quick or power-player scam.

I wouldnít be surprised if he still tries some slickie-boy stuff WHILE in custody. Through visitors and intermediaries and connections he still has, and such.

Once a crook... and all that. Heís not one bit sorry for his nogoodnik-ery. Heís sorry he got caught.

And hey, approaching a 66th birthday, 70 doesnít seem so old OR infirm anymore.

Plus - I am highly suspicious of his need to use a wheelchair. My dad did that once, in a court appearance - going for the sympathy vote. And he really didnít need one at all, at that point. He just wanted to look old and feeble.

10. Jackson, unlike Ellis, gave Manafort a sentence that was within the sentencing guidelines,

and was actually somewhat high for a typical white-collar crime, and she had no power to correct for Ellis' failure to follow the guidelines. Manafort has also had to forfeit most of his assets so when he gets out he'll be old (77) and broke. There's also the possibility that state prosecutors will go after him. Looks like a pretty reasonable dose of justice to me.

If you've ever seen the inside of a federal prison, even a minimum-security one, you wouldn't complain that he isn't getting punished enough. Prison sucks a lot, and it will especially suck for a guy who was accustomed to living high off the hog.

14. At 69 years old, 7.5 years is a pretty crushingly long period of time to be in Club Fed

I mean, longer would've been fine by me as well, but those are some pretty precious years to people with kids and grandkids and wives ... he's definitely going to be suffering for his sins.

And considering all we know of for sure is that he's a thief/cheat (and possibly a traitor to his country, though this was not proven in court), not a violent person ... I'm pretty good with the 7.5 years.

At least, until Trump issues the pardon.
