I will never forget this about so called, "Conservatives"..

It was four or five years ago, we were having a heated discussion on the old Ed Shultz board. The topic was universal
health insurance, and we were arguing how much better it would be to have that kind of health insurance, you know,
how much less expensive and more inclusive, quicker service, etc.... This was when King George the Fool and Liar was President..
.....Any way... one post after another..and finally one so called Conservative, supporter of Bush said words to this effect........
......"I just don't want to pay for anyone elses health insurance..Why should I pay their costs?"...

That was it, it was all about paying less taxes, simple greeed.

Nothing else mattered, its was all about paying less, and not paying someone else's health costs..

the cost of other peoples health care. Their insurance premium costs reflect the under and uninsured.

6. And that's on top of what they already pay in taxes for health coverage...

...Medicare, the VA, Congress' medical plan, insurance for federal employees, Medicaid, military. That's just at the federal level; at a minimum there are the various plans for state and local government employees.

I wish I could dig up a link, but I don't seem to be able to set search parameters fine enough:
there was some sort of report some years back that found that the various piecemeal government medical expenses take a larger chunk out of Americans' tax dollars than the portion British or Canadians taxpayers do to cover everyone. And then, Americans who do have a private insurance plan get to pay more on top of that!

to spite someone else. "I don't want to pay for someone else's health insurance" is just so many levels of dog whistle, down to and including "I don't want to pay for my own, either".

It's the same thing in the debate over rights. They're willing to throw their own rights away to take something away from "some other" group.

Short-sighted and bone-stupid, the lot of them. There's a reason I call them selfservatives.

They don't want to pay for someones health insurance but they are paying for their health care, at a premium cost to becuase those who do not have health care go to the emergency room.

Their greed consumes their senses.

It is about more for me, screw you.
That is the bottom line of almost all they do. Look carefully at what they oppose.

She even entitled one of her books: "The Virtue of Selfishness".

Rumor has it that she got her karmic comupance and ended up dependent on Social Security Benefits for the last few years of her life. Apparently, even her wealthy John Galt friends deserted her.

[Note: I haven't substantiated this rumor. I prefer to treat it the way Faux treats their version of the "news".

10. but that's the very DEFINITION of insurance
Tue Dec 13, 2011, 01:54 PM

If they have insurance, then when they're healthy they're paying for the care of those within the same plan who are sick. When they're sick, the costs of their care is being paid for by those who are healthy.

The conservative argument on this issue would be like saying you don't want to get fire insurance because then you'd be "paying for" anyone whose house catches on fire.

They just assume they will be paying someone else's costs. Not that they might be paying their own costs, for a safety net for themselves or that someone else might end up paying their costs. They assume they are always going to be the winners in society.

"I just don't want to pay for anyone else's health insurance"
Sorry, stupid, that's what health insurance IS.

If you want to say "I just don't want to pay for anyone else's health care", then say so, because that's a different matter entirely.

I suspect that, deep down, what they want is a bad daddy welfare state. They want to pretend to pay their own health care until it impacts them in a bothersome way, at which point they want an authority figure that they can go and grovel and humiliate themselves in front of, (preferably in relative privacy, so their neighbors and competitors don't know they are getting help, and so that hazing and abuse won't be visible and public), in exchange for an opportunity to corrupt themselves further in exchange for having their bills paid. If they can't stomach this particular form of corruption, there is also the opportunity to publicly abase and degrade oneself in exchange for not owing large amounts after losing everything, including one's position in society. And it all has to have that thick greasy layer of hypocrisy on top of it.

This is, I admit, only a surmise, based largely on what they create when given the opportunity.
