In my opinion, if you don't release your tax returns, you don't belong on the debate stage.

(115,670 posts)If I could make the rules I'd require candidates to do it within 30 days of announcing their candidacy. It's pure bullshit to claim it's necessary only for general election purposes; people deciding on a nominee for their party need to know if a candidate has any financial skeletons in his/her closet. And no, being "under audit" is no excuse. I'm guessing that if we had to do it, most of us could release 10 years' worth of our tax returns tomorrow. I could do it today; I'm looking at the box they're in right now.
No excuses. Cough 'em up.
