Trump asked for Russian assistance.
Trump received Russian assistance.
Trump benefited from Russian assistance.
Trump rewarded Russian assistance.
I never heard it said quite so concisely.
And yet the Barr Letter/Mueller Report tells us there was 'no collusion'`

(56,828 posts)with the intention of letting Congress decide. Barr is saying "nothing to see here" because he believes the president is basically above the law and he's trying to control the narrative and the media, and that's been 98% successful so far.

(4,192 posts)The tenacity of the reporting in the media is the result of their influence in the media. And that is their fortè - propelling false narratives forward into the public attention. But we still have time and the fact that the Mueller report hasn't even been released yet means that they may have tipped their hand a little too soon. The truth has a way with fools that no one controls.

(7,142 posts)which has a high bar. One has to prove criminal intent, something hard to do if one doesn't interview the subject to ascertain his state of mind.
Of course there was collusion, that's a given.
It seems perfectly reasonable that Barr summarized things in the way best for his boss and without changing the general conclusion of Mueller's report if we bear in mind that the special counsel was trying to build a case on direct evidence. There's a lot of degrees of culpability possible without meeting a threshold for indictment.
It's like conflating "innocent" with "not guilty." They aren't the same at all.
The lack of understanding on that point makes me nuts.

(11,885 posts)With sealed indictments waiting for them all , and to gather more information that can be used to conclusively prove trump committed both obstruction , and conspired actively with putin and russia to insure he'd win. With lots of criminal indictments sealed and waiting to use against them watch how long before trump tries to start firing people involved that could do that to him and his family. Like he has done with an AG, and an FBI head , but Barr realizes he's a crook and very, very dangerous after seeing the Mueller report . Justice will prevail , and Mueller will be a hero for what he's done when its all exposed and comes out. trump and his family will be held accountable for it all hopefully. Could it be they waiting to organized a complete strike against them all , and all at once? Collecting all materials , and uncover evidence they've tried to destroy? We haven't heard the last of Robert Mueller's cases against trump and his family. He's too smart for this to not be finished .

(6,709 posts)is to differentiate between Russia and Russians--i.e. the government per se v. connected-but-plausibly-deniable individuals.
I'll bet that is clear in the Mueller Report--which is why they want to hide it with the Barr letter.
I find it hard to believe that Mueller will allow / has allowed his work to be derailed like this. Or maybe that's just not in his job description.

(4,006 posts)he must release it. Then, he can claim a mea culpa to Trump and wash his hands of it. Then, on the matter of no testimony by Trump, the kids, etc., doing so, even if they admitted guilt in court and offered themselves up to a jury charge, Trump could easily pardon them all in a heartbeat, as we know.
Ah, but the SDNY charges can't be pardoned, as we know. So, even if Mueller's team couldn't get Trump, knowing that the SDNY could get him after he leaves office an actually thrown the bum in jail, why the hand-wringing now?
I'd be glad to see almost all of his evil cabal in jail by 2020 just before the election. Imagine how that will look to even his most ardent backers?

My spouse has been so enraged bordering on unhinged and I have been so sickened and disheartened that we have blocked all of the networks and cable channels from our TV's and any channels including business channels where there is any chance we have to look at or listen to the monster in WH and his enablers and media pundits acting like all of this never happened that we clearly witnessed.

(769 posts)We know he hated "crooked Hilary" and would do anything to defeat her.
After all, she was winning the debates, called him a puppet and would have won if the
game didn't get rigged in his favor.
We know he's enough of a low life to accept any help from anyone - and Putin and gang were available.
So it would be really easy for a corrupt candidate like him to ask for and accept any help he could get, even
if it came from one of America's known adversaries. What did he care?
So he asked and Russia helped him and Russia benefitted from it. And ultimately, so did rTump.
It's exactly what bullies do to win. CHEAT.
And we're the real losers in this game. We got stuck with a liar and a thief in the
Oval Office.
But most bullies see their day coming and rTumps time is just about up.
