(Cartoon image is by Ed Hall at artizans.com.)
The cartoon above shows Donald Trump unplugging the life support system of a sick person. Some of you may think that's over-the-top. I don't. The latest move by the Trump administration would do exactly that -- by abolishing Obamacare and taking health insurance away from many millions of Americans. For many of them, that would amount to a death sentence.

(12,568 posts)Have you seen the video compilation of all the times Fat Donnie told his Red Hats he'd never take away "pre. existing. conditions"? (He always had to slow down and pronounce it syllable-by-syllable, like his little brain couldn't process the phrase completely.) Everyone cheered.
I'll bet if he got in front of the same group and told him that a judge took away their healthcare and only he could replace it with a very, very better one which covered pre.existing.conditions they'd still cheer, even as they watched their children and parents die for lack of health of insurance as Trump and the GOP senators did less than nothing to create a workable healthcare system.
Trump hates judges unless they rule in his favor.

(9,426 posts)support of the traitors in the gop. Never forget. We have to remove them too before we get this country back on track.
Trump is just a symptom of a much bigger problem. If it hadn't been Trump, eventually it would have been someone else. We've been headed toward this nightmare for decades. It is not enough to cut out the cancer, we have to address and remove the cause.

(51,568 posts)What a sick, sick, sick THING he is! He needs medical help...he is missing a heart and a brain. He needs a doctor and the Wizard of Oz. We need to get rid of him before he kills more of us. He has already killed many indirectly via his hate filled twitter rants and Nazi/NRA rallies that encourage his cult to shoot Dems and people attending religious services as well as thousands in Puerto Rico who never tot aid in time (paper towels don't count).

(47,282 posts)that are powerful enough to describe him. For all the damage, pain, and death he has caused, I am afraid there is far more that we have yet to learn.
The rest of the world has dealt with sick megalomaniacs like Trump throughout history and even today, but we are still young and this is all so new and unthinkable to us. We naively thought we were above all that and our unique institutions would protect us. As a result, we (at least most of us) just weren't paying attention.
You know, it was just a few years ago that I was amazed that Italy had put up with Silvio Berlusconi for many years, even though it was no secret who and what he was. Didn't think it could happen here.

(47,282 posts)history is at our fingertips. I was raised on World War II stories in books, TV, and movies. I just assumed that everyone knew how the civilized world almost collapsed because of authoritarian leaders and the mindless sheep who didn't question them. It wasn't some obscure ancient history that only scholars knew about. We've had it drummed into us over and over again, yet we still have people who don't even know who we fought in WWII or why.
A part of me is still hopeful, but not with the certainty that I once had. The amount of hatred and violence we're seeing is terrifying and it seems to be getting worse.

(51,568 posts)It is a pretty depressing situation when humanity seems hell bent on not only destroying itself but also the animals, plants and entire planet. When we have the brains to do so much good, we choose to be ignorant and selfish instead.
The human race deserves to disappear for what it has done, the rest of the living things on the planet are victims of us and that is what I feel badly about. People suck. GOP voters suck even more than most (I do not consider them people...they are asses).

(47,282 posts)As a species, there is something terribly wrong with humans. There is where I get discouraged. How can we be optimistic about a species that is so self-destructive? Humans create and build extraordinary things, then turn around and destroy it, repeating the cycle over and over again.

(1,588 posts)It will lead us into bankruptcy which is what the GOP always wanted. They want all the money. They want all the property. They want all the real tangible value. The only way to do that is to force all Americans to forfeit and sell everything they have and become renters and leasers. Remember when Reagan said he wanted America to be an ownership society. That was only so they could lead us to be the renting society. Only the 1% shall own.

(11,896 posts)this is a barbaric, third-world country. First-world countries acknowledge healthcare as a basic human right and at least try to keep their people alive.
Note to republinazis: if you want our tax dollars, you're going to have to keep us alive, which means we need the right to healthcare. Also, communicable diseases won't stop at your gated communities.

(905 posts)It's just the nature of cults. Think of it in terms of cult leader Jim Jones and the mass suicide of Americans in Guyana---an event of which the most lasting impression on society was the pop culture term "drinking the Kool-Aid" to describe brainwashing.
Since it's tRump's own mostly elderly base who would be most affected by his DEATHCARE policies and runarounds, here's a (sarcastic) idea:
If you voted for tRump, as proven by voter records, you and only you must formally submit an up or down approval to be VOLUNTARILY removed from life support and/or to be denied access to medications, surgeries, or any medical procedure whatsoever.
The yes or no form to be signed will include a statement outlining why this is tRump's desire that you make this choice (need money for vanity wall because the brown hordes are coming to rape and murder your children, blah, blah, blah).
As crazy as this sounds, I think such a move would turn out just like Jonestown: The majority of the true believers would drink the Kool-Aid and voluntarily die for dear leader. Of course, a small number would run off into the jungle to hide from the gun-toting tRumpkins tasked to strong-arm those who decide maybe this whole cult thing wasn't such a good idea after all.
There you go, problem solved: Most tRumptards dead by their own choice; smaller number finally understand what it means to be conned.
I mean, isn't that where this is going anyway? Why not just hurry it along a little?

(51,518 posts)Trump cut off the health coverage of a relative's ill child after that relative angered him by disputing his father's will:
A week after the lawsuit was filed in court, Freddys son (Donalds nephew) received a letter informing him that the health insurance would be discontinued, meaning his ill son would be left without coverage. Donald openly admitted to the New York Daily News that he and his siblings took this action out of revenge.
Why should we give him medical coverage? Trump said, adding, They sued my father, essentially. Im not thrilled when someone sues my father.
