(2,689 posts)She is a woman of talent, poise, and great intelligence, seriously. But because of a horny President, an unprincipled Special Prosecutor (aided by an intern who liked beers, still likes beers, likes to drink beers, and sometimes drinks too many beers), and a woman with no soul who ruined Ms Lewinsky's life because she saw profit in doing so, Ms Lewinsky was denied a public life in which she could have contributed meaningfully and substantially to the common weal.
She has recovered her poise and confidence, thankfully. But as her interview with Oliver points out, it was at a terrible and painful personal cost. I feel my jaw clenching in anger when I think of the "suffering" that befell Bill Clinton, Ken Starr, and that beer-swilling product of white privilege had to go through. Concerning the "soulless woman" above referred to, her bit of fame left her loathed and in the shadows of obscurity, which is still a better fate than her betrayal of a young woman's confidence deserves.
