Is euthanasia next?

Hitler used euthanasia to kill off the mentally and physically disabled long before he built the industrial gas-murder factories. In Trump's case, I doubt he would bat an eyelash, if people started dieing for lack of healthcare. In Trump's case, I think that it's more about not taxing his and rich people's money to provide healthcare for anyone. Ditto funding any safety net services.

Throw in the ascendance of AI, and we've got ourselves a real-life classic sci-fi dystopia...the capitalists really just need to keep enough people around to buy their shit, so they can make a profit...soon they won't even need workers...so what would be the ideal solution to all those needy people who can't afford to buy shit? Hmmm...

3. Interesting timing...I suggested that this may be the GOP plan

to a friend today. I thought of the film Logan's Run where nobody lives over 30 hears old and Soylent Green where overpopulation caused the govt to secretly turn people into food for the rest of the population. I imagine that the GOP will do something like combining both film plots and make life so miserable for people as they age that they volunteer to die, providing more food for the younger people. Climate Change and no health care would certainly make dying younger a new option for an aging America. Maybe this is the GOP plan after all. No more pesky, aging, whining, poor Dems to deal with in future elections.

And he brought up social darwinism. At the risk of sounding paranoid, it could explain a lot about how republicans are acting. They are the chosen, survival of the fittest. Stopping of special olympics, defunding special education, privatizing and controlling everything. Restarting warfare. Stopping vaccinations. Getting rid of social security and medicare.

Republicans and the alt right and white supremacists scare me much more than immigrants coming here for a better life. And every day that trump and his cronies are in charge results in the unraveling of our civil society.

I don't think the sky is falling, but it is darkening. Other societies have bounced back from horrible atrocities. They did not think it could happen to them. They were wrong.

I spend much of my time reading and watching sci fi. Probably just as s much time with history, especially the past 100 years. Like many of you, I get discouraged by those who scream the end is near, and the in fighting, and the judgements and yes biases expressed here. In my case, the end probably is near, I have been known to toss snark, and I certainly have judgements and biases.

I don't read as many posts as I used to, they anger me as much as msm does. When I get angry, I get irrational. That is just me. I get frustrated with media as many of you do.

But I have learned a lot after finding DU. I have found many threads that I enjoy and relate to. I have learned how to watch for trolls. I won't go on Twitter for the same reason that I got off Facebook and that I do not own a gun, my self control gets a little crazy. So the cute animal vids and the tweets of the day cheer me up.

And I know that if my daughter and my grandson are to thrive, I depend on people in this group as well as other like minded thinkers. People who understand the differences between right v left but even more so right v wrong. We are left and we are right to be a so.

And if you are still reading this, thank you for being here. Thank you for your insight. Thank you for caring. And thank you for making me a better person.

Tomorrow is another day, and we will survive. Resist.

and agree that turdface would cross that line, eagerly.

But I must make a distinction between euthanasia and assisted suicide. Many would lump them together just to support their own agenda. They are distinct issues.

Dump and DeVos don't have much real world experience outside their lifelong inheritance bubbles. Dump seems to have convinced himself that he's a supreme being who knows everything (Nazis, too, thought they were the "master race" ). Maybe he's a Calvinist (Republican) type who believes God chose him to be wealthy and powerful and others less fortunate were not chosen and are therefore worthless and disposable...like his dirty diapers.
