(Himmler, Goering, Goeth, Hoess, I remember for certain)... I think many of them changed their last names, but not all.

Boy, I sure would have. Maybe history is not fair, but the descendants of many infamous people either choose to get beyond that heritage and prove so to the world, or they defiantly move away from it and make their own path. Those that chose to defend their ancestors HAVE to know that the world is not going to forgive.
