Trump Rants About Oranges While Claiming Adam Schiff And Jerry Nadler Are Laughing At Him
Trump went off on a rant where he started talking about the oranges of the Russia investigation and claimed that Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler are laughing at him.

Trump said oranges no less than three times in a single answer. At some point, it has to be universally acknowledged that the president is not all there. Donald Trump is slipping and fading fast. The oranges of the investigation is another verbal gaffe that is a sure sign that Trump mentally cant handle even this tiny bit of the presidency that he has taken on.
The president is paranoid. He thinks Democrats are laughing at him behind his back, and he is losing his grasp basic words and communication.
The 2020 election cant come soon enough.

It would be one thing if we had an evil asshole as president, or a moron, or demented, or incompetent president, but no trump and Stein voters and non-voters, you gave us all of that in one fat, mushroom-dicked POS.

(146,288 posts)You could see he knew he said it wrong. He tried two more times and failed, so he switched to the word "beginnings." He seemed surprised that he couldn't say it, too, so it must be a recent thing that he just discovered when trying to say the word "origins." Something's scrambled in his brain.
He needs an MRI of his brain. There's a lesion somewhere in his speech center. It should be checked out right away. See:

(7,596 posts)But those two are a lot more similar in pronunciation than origins and oranges are.
MineralMan
(146,288 posts)It's just a substitution of phonemes. However, that he did it three times, seemed surprised that he couldn't say "origins" correctly after trying three times, and switched to "beginnings" indicates something weird going on. It's one thing to invert a pair of phonemes once, but the next time you will usually say it correctly. That he was unable to do so is slightly alarming. It indicates an inability to say the word, rather than just scrambling the pronunciation.
That's why I'm saying he should get a brain scan, to make sure he hasn't had a minor stroke in one of the speech centers of the brain, or that there isn't a small tumor growing there.
It could also be a TIA (transient ischemic attack). If that's the case, he should be able to say the word "origins" sometime later today.
Speech problems can be one of the early symptoms of a stroke or lesion in the brain. That should be ruled out by a CAT scan or MRI..

(1,233 posts)It could be some kind of brain lesion. It could also be a side effect of some kinds of medication- legal or not.
I have ADD. I do well on some stimulant medications- Ritalin and Adderrall. Both help me to focus, and both allow me to function at a level that is consistent with my abilities and capabilities. However both also affect something in my language center. Most commonly, I seem to lose access to higher vocabulary- multi syllable words and terms of art, primarily. This is annoying, but manageable. Occasionally, though, I substitute similar words, mispronounce simple words, or use words that I know are incorrect.
For awhile, I switched to non-stimulant meds to address this, but those come with their own drawbacks. Now, when I notice that this is happening, I go off of the meds for a short period of time. So far, this has been an acceptable compromise.
I share all of this to say that if, as is suspected, the orang one is using coke or speed, the language issues are part and parcel to that use.

(146,288 posts)Maybe a full neurological assessment is needed. I'd add an MRI scan of the brain, in any case. His health insurance will cover it, no doubt. Even Medicare would.

Yes, he can do his smug smile when he makes a belittling joke about someone, or is part of something fun like SNL, but I don't think he is capable of feeling any of the emotions necessary to conjure laughter.

(288 posts)Are they navel oranges? If so, perhaps we should call in the NCIS - Navel Criminal Investigative Service? Of course, they could be Florida oranges. Those would yield some very juicy oranges, perhaps some Trump Florida properties bought from and then sold to Russians. Any Florida oranges at Mar-a-Lago? Another possibility for oranges might be Dana Rohrabacher from Orange County, California. The Russians like him and he likes the Russians.

(82,849 posts)You see him stop a couple of times: "Oranges? No, that's not quite the word, is it?" Then he tries another tack, "the beginnings of the Mueller investigation, where it started." His poor, beleaguered brain finally conjures the word "origin," but it's a temporary victory, as his mouth goes back to saying "oranges" and his face reveals his inner dissonance at using the wrong word.
He needs to be at a memory care facility, not in the Oval Office.

I suspect dementia, but he may have a lesion in his brain, too. His doctor needs to get him in for extensive testing.
