I just watched Rep. Jackie Speier discuss what happened in Guyana with Jim Jones.

The description of Jim Jones' behavior is so similar to Donald Trump's actions until it is frightening. He was so paranoid that he killed all those around him with poison. He had convinced his followers that everybody was against them. They believed him and excused everything he did, including violations of the female bodies. What will drumpf use as kool aid and cyanide when his temper tantrums don't work?

He would have to go bigger than Jim Jones ("I am the PRESIDENT!!!1!!!) So, he would start nuclear war. Like other dictators, he wants to hurt his own people, so just nuking wouldn't be enough, he would goad another nuclear power to nuke the USA to make us hurt.

There are now Russian soldiers in South America. That is something that I never thought I would see. It happened with barely any notice by anyone.

An amazing, accomplished, sometimes harrowing life. Her first husband was killed in a car accident while she was pregnant with their second child. Coming up in politics in the 70s and 80s she dealt with rampant sexism and harassment, even in “liberal” California.

his followers would gladly offer their wives and daughters for this madman's use.

as for the apocalypse, so many of his followers desire that end that i really hope cooler heads have given trump a fake button.

Restoration of the Temple is a primary goal of End Timers. Hypocrites proclaiming God's hand in his power. All the fundies are glassy-eyed with thoughts of the coming Rapture. The Alt-right is frothing with the restoration of their birthright as rulers of all.

This is truly scary shit.

I would be perfectly okay if the orange asshole asked his moron followers to down fruit punch laced with poison, but that's not what's going to happen.

the orange asshole is going to order his legion of mouth breathing pea brained followers to arm up and exact some revenge over the "crooked election".

it's going to happen.

I do not own a gun, but damn if I'm not seriously considering getting a shotgun for protection.

and more articulate than Trump. Initially, you could see how people were drawn to him, as he was very charismatic and outspoken about civil rights. What is truly frightening to me is that Trump who lacks charm, intelligence, or any kind of public speaking skills, can win the support of millions of people. I guess when people are ready for a "savior", they'll take pretty much anyone.

Yes, the paranoia as he is backed into a corner is similar to Jones and other authoritarian leaders, though I doubt Trump would take his own life, regardless of how bad things were.

He will demand that his followers respond to an “illegal” election by rising up to protect his right to stay in office because of whatever election fraud his deranged mind can dream up. And we know the entire Republican Party will support him because their power is everything to them, not Democratic rule and the peaceful transfer of power and because they never want to have a Democratic president again—ever.

I haven’t seen a recent estimate of the number of people who are in citizen militias, but it may be in the hundreds of thousands and they are ALL Trump supporters. These militias have stockpiled military grade weapons and they are anti-government conspiracy theorists, believing everything that hate radio, Fox News, and the dark corners of the Internet tell them. Obviously, the National Guard outnumbers them, but can we rely on the National Guard to put down such an insurrection? I used to think yes, but today I’m not sure.

This is why we needed the Mueller report to help prevent Trump from even running again. That is unlikely now with Barr’s coverup. Barr is redacting the report now, not for security reasons but to erase any embarrassing information that show Trump as the sleazebag he is and could cause Trump supporters who are on the fence to desert him. Eventually, the report will become public but it may be too late to make a difference in the election—and that’s the whole point of the coverup and dragging out the release of the report as long as possible.
