Some of his ultra radical supporters will eventually be pushed to the point where they feel 100% justified and empowered to try and inflict the death penalty themselves on whoever they see as 'traitors' (ie. whoever Trump labels as such). From what I have read on the subject, legal opinion differs based on the "Or" following the words "against them".

Does that mean that treason can include acts outside of wartime? Or not?

Either way, it's clear that Trump and many others really, REALLY like using the word to describe acts that are little more than people being mean to them.
