2019 - The Year Two Bomb Cyclones Struck

The Midwest is slowly recovering from the second of two "bomb cyclones" that have hit the region and beyond this year. I was out yesterday at my St. Paul home, in 30 mph winds, to remove heavy snow from my driveway and walks. We were on the northern edge of this weather event, so it was a doable job, although it was nasty work.

Many others, in South Dakota, for example, weren't so lucky. Neither were those who live in the southwestern part of Minnesota. They have had, and still are having, much worse conditions.

Why has this happened? Global climate change. It's simple. What will we do about that? Probably nothing, I suppose. While it has always snowed up here in the "Bold North" in April, it hasn't always been like this. Last year, another spring blizzard dumped 16+" of snow on the region. This year, we're having a repeat of that, close on the heels of an earlier bomb cyclone.

Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and other Midwestern states should be planting crops right now. This year, planting will happen late, or maybe not at all. We have a relatively short growing season here, so timing is crucial for corn, wheat, soybeans and other crops. We'll see another rise in farm bankruptcies this year, following last year's jump.

And yet, the Trump administration claims there's "nothing to worry about, folks..."

Fuck that!

Have not heard if FEMA is even on the ground in the flooded area. Some of those Bottom Land Areas will never be dry until late July or August.

When hundred plus year old buildings are destroyed, think about it,a century plus buildings being destroyed.

Hy-way 81 is known as the Meat Corridor of the Nation . And Fremont,Columbus, and Norfolk are kind of ground zero as well as the farm machinery capitals of the USA.

The Bankruptcies will be norm rather than the exception.
