Senate Republicans are getting tired of being caught off-guard by President Trump on key issues like health care and controversial nominees like Herman Cain, and say there needs to be more consultation from the White House.
Trumps allies say they often find out about the presidents plans on Twitter or through media reports, making it almost impossible to offer the White House any advice before major decisions are announced.
When names are floated, you guys come around and ask, What about this person? What about that person? Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), a member of the GOP leadership team, told reporters Wednesday, saying he would like to see more communication and collaboration.
This is a nontraditional presidency, and the president now figures he doesnt need a lot of advisers because he wants to do it himself. But theres a lot of informal mechanisms and avenues for sharing information that are not really working very well now, he added.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Thursday that they agreed with Cornyn that there needs to be more communication between the White House and congressional Republicans.

(4,723 posts)They love everything he is doing. I'm sure their corporate overlords are happy as clams. And they are getting their kook judges installed. They have the power to do something about it if they dont like it, but their silence and lack of action leads me to believe they are fine with his absurdities.

(34,103 posts)he would go off like this then they are stupider than I thought.
It was obvious from the beginning that the only people who would have his ear were himself, Ivanka, himself, Jared, himself, Don Jr. etc. He does not need the elected officials, he does not need the cabinet people he does not need any input from anyone else. Your job is to fawn and scrape and bow to dear leader then make it certain that he remains the dear leader. Surely we will all begin to realize how fortunate we all are.
Yeah, you are stupider than we thought. This was obvious long before he even declared his intention to run.

(569 posts)It's an illegitimate presidency. I wish the media would stop referring to him as "President Trump" altogether. Maybe "Mr. Trump."
