Brian Williams: "Well, I guess we have an Attorney General who decided to have his legacy be "I took one for the team."
Nicole Wallace and Neal Kaytal agreeing that this was complete bullshit.
Nicole Wallace is majorly pissed off. I love her.

(32,633 posts)She's got a lot of fans here on DU, at least for now. I like that Nicole has opinions and she lets us know what they are. Far better to do that than to play the "both sides" game.

(9,895 posts)Nicole Wallace (acted by Sarah Paulson I believe) came across extremely sympathetically in that portrayal. I think that film kick started a rehabilitation for her in many ways...then the MSNBC show and renouncing Republicans due to the Trump stain and circus went the rest of the way.

(19,193 posts)an alternate reality is unfolding. Judge Neapolitan (or whatever his name is) says Democrats will not let this go and the political "witch hunt" will continue. Brit Hume actually parroted MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell's statement that "This is just the end of the beginning" on this matter. That surprised me. Everyone else is singing the praises of their hero, Donnie Dim-Wit. That's all I could take. No one should be subjected to bullshit like that for too long.

(82,849 posts)One what? From what I see, Barr is still Attorney General, still acting like he's the President's personal attorney instead of head of the Justice Department. What is this "one" Barr is supposed to have taken, Brian Williams?

Nay
(12,051 posts)"Mitchell served only 19 months of his sentence at Federal Prison Camp, Montgomery (in Maxwell Air Force Base) in Montgomery, Alabama, a minimum-security prison, before being released on parole for medical reasons."
By the end of 1976, he was out of jail and lived in DC for another 11 years, when he dropped dead on a sidewalk in Georgetown.
The problem has always been that these sorts of people never get enough actual jail time, in an actually shitty prison, for them to be very worried about being jailed. It's just a "cost of doing business," not a true deterrent.

Nay
(12,051 posts)things were made as pleasant as possible for him. And he was wealthy when he got out, just like when he went in. It's hardly a crushing sentence. Unlike for the poor people who get railroaded into jail for minor crimes. I am convinced that Mitchell has spent more time in jail than any Trump family members will, though.

(37,648 posts)Seems to me there is evidence beyond a reasonable doubt for both conspiring with the Russians and obstruction. Strongest case for obstruction. The only reason Mueller wasn't fired at Trump's request is that the staffers wouldn't do it. The ONLY reason.
So it seems like Mueller is saying, "Trump was unsuccessful. So, no obstruction that rises to a legal level."
