Today is a good day for Trump

I mean really.

Barr's words on the Mueller report are very precise and unambiguous: no collusion and no obstruction.

I know they're the complete opposite of what we on this side of the political line believe. We know that Trump benefited from Russian interference in our election, and that members of Trump's team were receiving data from - and were possibly in full dialogue with - people associated with the Russian malfeasance, and that the Russian malfeasance was fully supported by - if not directed by - Putin.

But, if the unredacted report supports what Barr is saying, then it's time for us to move on and get this as far behind us as we can so it'll be less prominent in current affairs during the 2020 election. If the unredacted report supports Barr's summary today, then we have nothing to gain by continuing to harp on it. We will, in fact, lose everything if we keep on harping on it. This should be a strategic decision for us.

It is my full belief that Trump personally - and members of his team - did, in fact, commit treasonous crimes with regards to leveraging some sort of foreign influence to tilt the election in their favor. It is my opinion that Trump personally - and members of his team - did, in fact make moves to obstruct and otherwise thwart the investigation. These are facts that are on the record, even if prosecutors can't connect enough dots to make a viable prosecution.

No other presidential candidate has been surrounded by so much connection to foreign entities as Trump. But, this may be a symptom of the fact that he is first and foremost an international businessman (a failed and unethical one, but one nonetheless) and is part of a web of globalized business that can't be insulated from purely American affairs.

Until now, all presidents we've elected have been naturally insulated from these types of extreme foreign entanglements because in every case they have been involved in some form of public service to the American people before running for president. They've all had careers as senators, judges, governors, Representatives, mayors, etc. Trump is really the first who has had absolutely zero public service and all private business as a precursor to his presidency. I think some of us are having a hard time processing this.

Time is not on our side. It looks like the public is tiring of this issue. As long as there is no bombshell revelation on these issues in the next few weeks, it'll turn into a liability for us. Even if the total and absolute truth is out there and confirms our beliefs, there's only a year and a half to the next presidential election. We don't have time to develop this very complex story into a narrative simple enough that it'll totally turn the public against this asshole in orange.

Healthcare. Immigration. Racism & bigotry. LGBT rights. Women's rights. Global climate. Sustainable energy. New economy. We're right on every one of these issues and we have to contrast ourselves to Neanderthal Republicans in these areas. They're creepy, old thinkers who want to time travel back to coal, killing the environment for a buck, white supremacy, women who "know their place", gun worship, and all the other dandy constructs of the 1950's. We have to pick up the fight on these issues.

decision or allegiance to trump based upon today's release of the redacted report. Of course, even if the report said there was collusion/conspiracy those same white wingers would just say they don't care as long as the Racist-in-Chief is still in office.

This whole deal is complicated with no overt, express actions by Trump and his team that your run-of-the-mill, non-ideological, casual, persuadable voter would say that “clear-cut, concrete and illegal” behavior occurred. Those same voters, if they are paying even a minimal amount of attention are tired of it and are more concerned about their summer vacation plans. They just don’t care about this stuff like we do.

And yes, time’s a wastin’, if not already wasted. Any impeachment or legal process to get our boot on Trump’s neck will take months and months and would detract from our tremendous portfolio of candidate. We have great messages to present that need the spot light.

As satisfying as impeachment would feel, I think it would come at the expense of trying to win 2020.

I’m still holding out hope for the simple-to-understand and obvious crime in the report, but it’s only a sliver of hope.

Disappointed for sure.
