... AMONG REPUBLICANS !!!https://news.gallup.com/poll/116584/presidential-approval-ratings-bill-clinton.aspx
DONALD TRUMP WILL NEVER EVER HAVE THAT HIGH APPROVAL RATING AMONG DEMOCRATS !!!!
1. Please ... please stop with applying the "impeachment (of Clinton) hurt republicans" ... thought process to Trumps situation !!!
Impeachment hurt republicans because republicans liked Bill Clinton relatively speaking, at that time. Democrats will NEVER EVER like Red Don that much !!
2. Impeachment will gimp Donald Trump just like it gimped Bill Clinton. Remember GORE LOST, Gore ran away from Clinton because Clinton numbers ... TANKED ... after impeachment and after the 2000 election year ramped up.
3. Impeachment doesn't mean removal or conviction, dems in the house could go through the procedures and let the public know why Red Don should ... NOT ... be a sitting president then let republicans in the senate stain their hands with a historically UNPOPULAR president Trump.
The end of every dem candidate commerical can read "Trump, impeached for working with the Russians and lying to America bout it during the 16 election"
There reasons ... against ... impeachment are not sound relative to the facts.
What say you?

(25,467 posts)Clinton's high point of his entire presidency was smack dab in the middle of the impeachment process.
High point 73 (Dec 19-20, 1998)
They also spiked after he was acquitted and remained higher for the rest of his presidency than nearly all of his first term and a lot of his second.
That what you had in mind?

(25,467 posts)Who cares what Republicans thought of Clinton? His approval ratings with everyone else were stellar during/after impeachment, in part because the Rs impeached him in the first place. It was backlash.
Besides, you cherry-picked one number. Look at the numbers again - look at the trend.
20s-30s with Rs for the nine months before impeachment; 20s-30s after impeachment.
His last poll result with Rs: 39%, barely lower than the one number you fixated on.
I know what point you think you're making, but the numbers don't agree with you. In fact, the overall approval ratings undercut your argument almost entirely.

(90,335 posts)... keep using what happened to reps after Clinton impeachment as a reason ... NOT ... to begin impeachment against Red Don and that is misapplied here.
Clinton was more popular with republicans than Red Don is with democrats currently.
40s is .... DAMN HIGH ... for an approval of opposition party member in America !!

(10,429 posts)Clinton's approval went up, for the same reason - after seeing the spectacle, the public knew it was bullshit. Impeachment of MF45 for obstruction and his other treason and crimes is NOT bullshit.
