Who suggested Paul Manafort be Trumps campaign manager?
I always thought that Manafort was a plant as a go between for the campaign to Russia.
Remember when he made the Ukrainian change to the platform. Why was this not pursued by Mueller?

2. Individual 1's Russian mob handlers?
I suspect this is one of those "ongoing matters" and was probably handed off to the FBI, but who knows?
But yeah it seems pretty clear that he was put there to make sure Russian interests were being addressed in the campaign platform, and to set up the lines of communication (and in line with standard organized crime procedures, in a way that couldn't be directly tied back to Individual 1, etc...these people have been getting away with crimes for a long time; they know what they are doing). |

9. When you're an off the charts narcissist you expect everyone will want to work with you for free.
The opportunity to bask in your radiance is payment enough.

10. And then he used Eric and Ivanka to push Lewandowski out
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/05/10/trumps-campaign-manager-will-oversee-the-vice-presidential-search/
Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski will oversee the vice-presidential search By Robert Costa May 10, 2016 When asked how the post would affect Lewandowski’s day-to-day activities, one of the Republicans said that Lewandowski will continue to serve as campaign manager and described the vice-presidential selection an addition to his portfolio. Other senior Trump aides -- such as Paul Manafort, Michael Glassner and Rick Wiley -- will still be working daily with Lewandowski, but they will focus more on convention planning and bolstering the campaign’s national field operation, that Republican said. Lewandowski’s role is unsurprising because he is close to Trump and managing the campaign. What is unusual is that the job of running the vice-presidential search is usually held by a lawyer who is trusted by the candidate. ----------------------------- https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/06/corey-lewandowski-trump Lewandowski Fired After Ivanka’s Ultimatum: It’s Me or Him Trump’s campaign manager was canned after he reportedly ran afoul of the candidate’s golden child. by Tina Nguyen June 20, 2016 11:05 am Following months of bitter campaign infighting, Donald Trump fired his infamously hotheaded deputy, Corey Lewandowski, on Monday, after Ivanka Trump reportedly gave her father an ultimatum: it’s him or me. The potential future First Daughter, widely seen as one of Trump’s closest advisors, had been trying to convince him to fire the campaign manager for months, CNN reported. The final straw, according to several campaign reporters, was when Lewandowski allegedly tried to shop negative stories about Ivanka’s husband, New York Observer owner and campaign confidante Jared Kushner, who has been described as the silent force behind Trump’s throne. Her brother, Eric Trump, had also become fed up with Lewandowski, CNN reports. On Sunday, Ivanka threatened to walk if the 42-year-old campaign manager remained. Less than a day later, he was gone. |

7. Manafort was already sort of
Peripherally involved with the campaign. I once read that Jared wanted him but can't remember where.
Out of interest, I just googled 'who fired lewandowski', figuring that person may have wanted Manafort. Google says Ivanka. |

8. Maybe Roger Stone?
Wasn't he the old pal of Manafort who would have known about Manafort's connections and "work" in Ukraine/Russia, and also the asshole who convinced the Dumpster to run for President?

11. My money's on Roger Stone.
As he was Manafort's former business partner (as was Lee Atwater).
Manafort himself did a few jobs for Trump directly back in the 90s, IIRC. |
