QUESTION: What's to stop Russians from helping Trump ..... AGAIN ... in 2020?

And what's to stop Trump for assisting in the help from the Russians?

If there isn't 2 - 4 empirical answers to this question then shouldn't impeachment get a stronger look?

What say you?

Regards

20. And if you think that their data diving

into every state electoral data base, many to the county level, wasn't for a reason, just wait.

Georgia just bought a whole new electronic voting system with no paper trail. Just enough votes need to be switched, and the russkies have the data base info to do it. I believe they can do that with every single electronic voting system.

Congress needs to double down on gerrymandering and voter suppression. We need to win with such a large margin that no one could believe turdface could win with a 30% approval rating.

Now we need to work on that approval rating. The cultists will never give in, but the rest of the people can deny the truth for only so long....

Also, if we want to see a bona fide constitutional crisis, let the electoral college elect a president with only a 30% approval rating. This country will come to a screeching halt.

At that point the EC will be dealt with.

As I have stated previously, legal or not, I am going to photograph my ballot (whether paper or an electronic screen), with my driver's license and voter registration on top of it. I WILL have proof of my vote.

54. They've never stopped yet, why would they suddenly stop in 2020?

This has been the most unexpectedly, mindbogglingly successful operation the Soviets or Russians have ever conducted against the U.S. It only got them a little of the sanctions relief they were after, granted. But it was instrumental in installing a Putin toady in the American presidency... a level of success previously undreamed of. And the operation also achieved in spades its other goals of greatly worsening political discord in our country, and weakening our democratic institutions and elections.

Nothing is going to keep the Kremlin from continuing to use social media as a powerful, effective tool against us.

My question pertains to the only area they attacked that Dems can really do anything about: Use of email. Russia for certain will hack/is hacking Democratic Party communications again.

When a political opponent has your internal communications and makes the embarrassing and otherwise harmful parts public (timed for maximim impact), and you don't have theirs, you're competing at such a deep disadvantage it will be extremely difficult to win.

How much of 2020-related Dem comms are already in pcs and phones in the form of relatively easily-hacked emails and their attachments? That should be our focus as far as I'm concerned: defending against a repeat of that by the GRU and FSB.

31. Yes, but

The last time we didn't know about what the reds were doing thanks in part to mcturtle. This time we are aware and they won't succeed in the way they did in 2016. Oh they'll be some who fall for their disruption that's for sure. However, if we succeed in getting the people out to vote like they did for Obama I know we'll take this upcoming election.

even make it close, campaign like there's no tomorrow, and wipe the floor with the pee-Resident. Bernie certainly fits the bill.

9. That's my thinking as well

"Help" the Democratic primary frontrunner through bots, ads, social media, hacking, etc. Then during the general election let it be uncovered that they have been helping the Democratic candidate and watch the meltdown.

Russia's goal is to cause disruption and paralyze our government, they don't care about the sides they have to play to get that end result.

For the good of the country, he will remain in office until the meddling can be "investigated". It will eventually be "determined" that meddling may have been what caused him to lose the popular vote in 2016 and the entire election in 2020.

He can try but he will not have a receptive candidate/ team. I see no Democratic candidate who would fall into Putin's trap. I would hope that no Democratic candidate is as morally and intellectually bankrupt, and desperate for power like Donald Trump and his team were.

10. What bothers me is that the polling is too close.

I would have assumed any of our candidates would be 20 points ahead but from what I have seen its more like 5 points which is way too close and with a little Russian nudge can give it to Trump again.

We need to take a stand and make this election about Trump's "crimes and misdemeanors".

30. OK... Thousands of tweets.

To put it in a nutshell...

Several hundred computer nerds in a warehouse each created dozens of fake social media accounts (personas) and they spread and organized and distributed memes, videos and agitprop.

They dropped 100k into Facebook and Twitter ads.

You can't tell Facebook who they can run ads for.
You can't block foreign IP addresses from American internet.

And then there is the case of history. Before the internet, did the USA use radio broadcasts to influence elections in foreign countries?

Or modern day US Presidents assisting anti-gov't campaigns in foreign elections?

Even Trump picking a favorite in Venezuela.

45. Most of it is active measures.

It's the lowest hanging fruit. Put a hundred English-capable computer nerds in a warehouse in Volgograd, and let them get to work on chugging out the horseshit. Automated bots multiply their efforts by a factor of tens or even hundreds of thousands. They can easily shape and change Americans' opinions and actions. That's what the Kremlin did to their own people for decades.

13. How to stop Russia? A stronger Democratic candidate.

Russian interference boiled down to: energizing voters who already didn't like Clinton to vote for Trump, and depressing voter turnout among Democrats (notably African Americans). We need a candidate who's appeal overcomes that.

53. Jesus Christ Himself could be the next candidate.

Jesus could come out of eternity and appear in corporeal form (the way He did the first time) and announce Himself as running for president as a Democrat. He could even perform a few actual miracles. Fox News won't cover it. The rest of the media would express their skepticism. They will tell us that we actually want a candidate who can appeal to the up-and-coming millenials AND the older, more conservative crowd.

ON EDIT: There is no such thing as a "strong" Democratic candidate.

56. I love people who "know" what I didn't like...

1. I knew a week BEFORE Clinton announced; because her campaign team told me.

2. I maxed out to her campaign the day she announced.

3. I had her staff staying in my house (4 blocks from HQ) for over a year.

4. I spent a week working on her campaign leading up to Election Day.

What all that support DOESN'T mean is that I'm so enamored that I I'll ignore tactical mistakes on her campaign's part (verified by discussions with State Party Chairs I know) or the political reality of how voters actually choose to vote. Whether warranted or not, some voters didn't like Clinton personally, and some voters felt sufficiently frustrated by Democratic AND Republican Administrations not addressing their economic concerns that they chose (rashly) to vote for a non-politician, whomever it was.

What other wisdom do you have about me?

because Trump won't let it. The intelligence agencies probably are doing what they can, but Trump should authorize an all-out initiative aimed only at preventing election interference, and of course he isn't about to do that. Some of the states are improving their own election security, which is a good thing, but a lot more is needed.

decided to register their protests about their candidate losing in primaries, too many wanted a racist elected, etc.

Most states have taken some action to improve monitoring voting in 2020. I suggest getting out the vote and countering lies by Russians, Iranians, GOPers, ignorant white wingers, etc., as more productive.

FEDERAL ELECTION COMMISSION has five of the six positions open. Also, the one position is someone nominated and hasn't been confirmed.
