(20,678 posts)I swear! Does the rest of the world allow 10 days between demands and replies??? Can I wait 10 days to pay my restaurant bill? Rent? Mortgage? If my boss says there's a meeting, can I delay it 10 days?

(32,634 posts)Well it's called "District Work Period" but I think means they're out of Washington and in their home districts for the week. Conveniently it coincides with Easter week and Passover.

(38,958 posts)Things are happening rather quickly in this entire process. That we have become so accustomed to instant gratification makes that difficult for many to accept that procedures and process require these time frames.

(2,312 posts)and you've ever filed a Freedom of Information Act or state open-records-law request, you know that simply forwarding a file to someone takes much more time and money than you might imagine.
It's frustrating.

(888 posts)I seem to remember reading somewhere that all the "underlying materials" comprises around 1 million pages. If that has to be physically duplicated (I admit, I have no idea if stuff like this is done electronically or duplicated physically), how long would it take you to photocopy and organize 1 million pages?

(6,446 posts)for disciplinary reasons and I don't have a steward available or other factors involved make the scheduling complicated... it can sometimes take 2 weeks to have that meeting. As a shop steward I have intentionally slow-walked meetings. 10 days is the outside edge of that window though...

(3,803 posts)Much better than just a tweet burn or a strongly worded letter.
Nadler really did have to wait to see what bullshit Barr would pull first.
He didn't waste any time getting that subpoena out -- less than 24 hours after getting the redacted report. Good on him.

(3,803 posts)But I think it is analogous to any legal process -- you need to show that you tried all possible means to get what you are entitled to before you resort to strong legal action.
Issuing a subpoena before he saw what Barr was going to give him would be like filing a suit over a dispute before you received the response to a request you made to resolve it. Any legal action I've been involved in has worked that way.
Nadler, along with the rest of us, has received his response, and it has been confirmed that Barr is the scumbag he has always been.
Now is the time to subpoena every one of these fuckers.

(32,640 posts)You say, "We are going to be reasonable. You release the full report, by the day we agreed on. If you don't then we subpoena Mueller."
Then you wait for them to fuck up. You point out publicly that they didn't hold up their part of the deal, so you are completely justified in carrying out the consequence.
Who take someone seriously who moved the goalposts? If someone said, If you pay the money you owe by Friday, I won't report it to the credit bureau - then on Wednesday, they reported you to the credit bureau, what do you have to gain by paying them back at all?

(268,949 posts)The report came out yesterday. Dems took the steps to organize the subpoena in advance because they knew ReTHUGs would release a redacted version the day before the recess.
Bravo Dems!!
