Maybe our nations founders were not so forward thinking

They were brilliant. The wrote a set of laws and principals that the world envied. They tried to account for everything.

Now, over 200 years later, the flaws are being exploited. A lawless President, other nations effecting elections and a justice department essentially on retainer to the President. The branches that keep this law framework in check has been exploited, neutered and gas lighted.

I guess Madison, Jefferson and Washington would want a redo.

1. They existed before parties (of any significant strength)

An entire party has collapsed, along with a supportive media empire.

2. they would have had to imagine

a British spy would run for president with a populist message with hopes of returning America to Britain. They would have had to believe that the citizens were smart enough to figure that out.
We are certainly left with a Constitution that never recognized an entire party would embrace treason with the help of gullible citizens. Now that these holes have been exploited, a new blueprint for America has been realized.
