I'm not convinced that it was necessary to give Matt Gaetz a forum on MSNBC just now.

Chris Jansing. filling in for Katy Tur.

And yeah, she is trying to argue his talking points, but she's doing that by letting him MAKE all of his talking points.

1. I'm convinced that reading the news is better than watching it.

(Sorry. I'm being a contrarian smartass this morning.)

8. They are doing nothing more than what they've always done.

We’re the ones who have changed. We’re seeing the lies as lies.

12. They know from experience that there are no penalties for lying

And they don't have any sort of conscience or they would never be in that party to begin with.

5. Funny, I just posted about this too.

That was infuriating. I hit the floor when he claimed Rump acts with "unprecedented transparency".

9. Yeah, "Thank GOD he didn't testify under oath" was another gem

He wasn't there to "discuss" anything.

And if we consider MSNBC personalities like Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnell and Joy Reid to be in the "top tier" of what the network has to offer, I've always felt that Chris is more of an Alex Witt (MSNBC weekends) type of interviewer. Both bring on the right wing loons, let them vent, put on a game face as they try to present the "other side," and it always ends up as a forum for wingnut talking points and nothing more.

6. Chris Jansing?

Not worth your time. But now you probably know that.

13. When they have a slick lawyer type like Gaetz

They need to have someone equally fluent in bullshit, or at least in pointing it out and countering it. Notice those guys NEVER go on Rachel or Lawrence. It's usually a fill in or someone inexperienced in Combative Debate. Gaetz knew his talking points and stuck to them. She thought she had the report on her side but failed to cite the direct counters to his argument.
