1. I think that Trump is dumb enough that he does not even realize when someone manipulates him

The Russians, Manafort, the rest of them.

17. I agree. I don't trust many "ex-Republicans." I have a few who are close friends, but it took a

LONG time. . . .

16. I believe she's

an "ex-Republican Independent"

aka "I'm still a Republican in my heart, but I don't want to be lumped in with those people."

5. I believe tRump's kids might be unwitting. Cmon, look at them. They're Beavis and Butthead...

you can't deny it. One blonde, the other black headed. They never did this stuff before. They thought it was cool. They were playing James Bond....

6. Some of them might have been "unwitting" in the sense that they didn't see

how the Russians were intentionally cultivating them as assets. They were looking only at what the Russians were offering to do for them and not at what they were really doing or why they were doing it. They either didn't see the big picture or didn't care (and I think the latter is more likely). Trump himself probably didn't know what the Russians were really up to beyond the fact that they were giving him Hillary's emails, and that's all he cared about. And the reason he didn't want the Russian contacts investigated after the fact was not so much a fear of criminal liability but revelation of the fact, now established, that the Russians helped him get elected - thereby delegitimizing his presidency.

8. I've found that she often throws things out for discussion...

Not that it's her personal belief.

I think this was for the purpose of discussion.

9. "Unwitting" in that they saw nothing wrong in their actions.

If they were doing something wrong, they wouldn't be rich.

Affluenza.

12. The campaign executives and Donald himself were briefed by the FBI

They were told in no uncertain terms that they would probably be contacted by Russians or other foreign operatives. They were told to report any contacts to the FBI, and not respond to the feelers. Chump, Manafort, Bannon, Sessions, Flynn, Papadopoulos, and the others knew exactly what they were doing. Maybe the kids were "unwitting," but I doubt it. They only did what their Dad told them to do.

13. I think the more correct term would be "witless"

which I suppose I agree with to some extent. Or perhaps unwitting as far as the motive to destroy the U.S., and seeing Russian assistance as just a leg up on the competition--I'm sure they were "witting" enough to the fact that this is not really very cool, or they wouldn't have lied constantly to cover it up and all.

But I can see the point where the whole family is so stupid they will never realize they are just being used as a weapon, not being elevated to such status by their friends the Russians because of how awesome they are at running the country.

15. I'll accept "unwitting" in a very narrow sense

And that is that Trump and most of his amateur hour campaign people had and have no idea what government is or does or how it functions. There's no sin in that; I, too, am ignorant of many of the inner workings of government.

But if I were to campaign for office, I'd make real sure I had a couple of experienced hands on my team to ask questions of and get advice from. Trump and his people didn't have even that modicum of common sense. So, when they were contacted by Russian agents offering services of dubious legitimacy, none of them knew that your first call in such a situation is supposed to be to the FBI. Instead, they met with one another to figure out how to exploit the offer to the best advantage, and the people who knew better either kept their traps shut or were ignored when they said the FBI needed to be notified. At that point, we are out of that very narrow path of "unwitting" and speeding toward willful ignorance and illegality.

They didn't know any better. They should have known better. When they knew better, they continued to act like they didn't know any better, and that "unwitting" excuse was out the window.

19. Reading Mueller s account of Trumps involvement in the trump tower cover-up, it seems

They weren't very unwitting. And Manafort was there. He knew the rules. Trumps response, "This is the end...I'm f'ed." When he learned of Mueller s appointment doesn't sound like someone so witless as to not appreciate that his behavior has been hardly blameless. They knew.

20. Nicolle is one of the best

at going after Trump and his crimes.

She was just throwing out a hypothetical for discussion, but her own views are pretty clear that Trump/Barr et al are traitors.

She's a white lady who seems to 'get it' - especially in the era of Trump, where alot of whites seem enabling of him and his movement.
