Poll: What do you think the result of impeachment would be?

The GOP puts country before party and convicts in the Senate.
0 (0%)
The GOP Senate exonerates, and the voting public, angered that Democrats have wasted their time, swing more 2020 races to the GOP than the GOP would have won otherwise.

The GOP Senate exonerates, and the voting public, angered that the GOP has left an obvious criminal in office, swing more 2020 races to Democrats than the Dems would have won otherwise.

The GOP Senate exonerates, but it has little effect on the 2020 elections, with the voting public more or less voting the way they would have if there has been no Impeachment.

The main goal and purpose of impeachment proceedings should be to educate and inform the American people, to warn them, that it is about saving their democracy and their Constitution.

If they can do that with hearings, then so be it. But if the subpoenas and hearings are stonewalled, then impeachment may be the only route?

Impeachment's goal at this time is not about removal from office.

It is to create a groundswell of informed citizens.

Let the FACTS drive the PROCESS.

The congress has access to the full unredacted Mueller Report.

In case something that’s been redacted completely exonerated him.

start with hearings now, but don't take impeachment off the table. Do "fact finding" for several months.

Then, start the impeachment investigations. Then, once the investigations have come to their end, present evidence to the full house.

The whole thing, the final vote in the house takes place in late September/Early October for maximum impact, with the case laid out in public and for the entire world to see.

Make it a massive dog and pony show and ensure that the background noise of all the news (except Faux) is a constant drumbeat of "Trump is a criminal and we're doing something about it".

Honestly, I think that most of us who are frustrated aren't demanding that impeachment happen tomorrow, but "it's off the table"..."we should never do that"...."OMG! NO, just let it go!" are not the right answers any more than "right this second" is.

Perhaps a select house committee to take a deep dive into the whole thing, including how to protect the 2020 elections (and therefore an urgent matter).

most important issue we have. If we can't count on a free and fair election the rest doesn't ultimately matter.

I just like the idea of it coming to a peak right before the election. WAY harder for the GOPers trying to get reelected to mouth platitudes about their support for Orange Hitler while the news is dominated by his criminality and that of his cronies.

But I do know Congress and many Americans in public service swore to uphold the Constitution.

I haven't read the whole report so I could stand to be corrected.
But from what I have read, Bob Mueller passed the ball to congress when department policy stood in his way.

What does it say to Americans to basically get an indictment and not uphold the law?

The country is going to be split apart on it with large groups of people on either side. It was with Nixon at the time. But there are not very many today who would defend Nixon. And there were significantly less defending Nixon as the process went along.

We do not have a single smoking gun. But there is a lot there. Currently, media is touting "no evidence of collusion" which is an absurdly false claim. There is volumes of evidence of collusion - just not enough to hit the high bar of beyond reasonable doubt - which may well be explained by all the obstruction that occurred. Let's make sure this evidence gets the exposure it deserves.

The big duty of congress is not necessarily to get a final result. The duty is to get the evidence out in the open - to let the American people with their own eyes and ears see and hear what people like Trump in their government have been up to. You can try to whitewash like Bill Barr did but when the evidence comes out, like the Mueller report just did, few are going along with Bill Barr now. He has now been exposed for the dishonest liar he is. Trump and the rest of them need to be exposed. Evidence destroys GOP innuendo.

The American people need to hear the testimony and see the evidence of how the Trump campaign interacted with the Russians. The media is going to lap it up. It is not a good story that ends well for the Republicans or Trump. It is a much worse version of what they did to Hillary with Benghazi & emails because we already know the top FBI director and prosecutor effectively thinks Trump broke the law repeatedly and he's identified all the sinister contacts with the Russians that Bill Barr cannot dismiss. The Democrats who can say, as most Americans would appreciate "We're not after the President - we're after the truth of how our democracy was attacked that the President and Attorney General and others have tried to cover up. No one who has done no wrong should be afraid of the truth."

Impeachment is the perfect process to get at the truth because it forces the President to respond. He wouldn't respond to Mueller. He's refused to tell Americans the truth.

And while you are at it, you drag Mitch McConnell through the mud for stopping Obama saying anything about the Russian attack, etc. You link all of the GOP to Trump as they chose him, protected him and enabled him.

This is like one gigantic free media advertisement that the GOP billionaires will not be able to control or stop. All the Dems have to do is follow the law and expose what Mueller has already told them is true. As they go, it will probably get bolstered by the other 14 ongoing cases and what SDNY is doing following the money.

My objective is not to be in a hurry to damage Trump so much as drag the GOP down with him. Give them the damage they deserve leading into 2020.
