My son, a young man, a Democrat, tells us why the orange shit MUST be impeached

The powers that be tell me that trump's base will be energized if he's impeached? Fuck that nonsense. AS IF they're not energized already up to their ceiling.

My son tells me that if trump's NOT impeached that it will be a giant turn off, a discouragement, a lack of principled determination that will increase the chances of him staying home on election day.

So, pick a poison... more trump voters (yeah, riiiiiiiight) or fewer good guys, a very distinct likelihood.

Staying home on election day is not a "good guy". It's suicide. ksoze Apr 2019 #1

Does not matter how much your son wants to see impeachment, ask hm how he would like four more years of Trump. Makes no sense being "discouraged"by a lack of impeachment, so burn the world down?

and impeaching him is very likely to motivate our base.

in fact, the senate refusing to remove him might motivate our base even more.

it's a valid point that the right-wing will be jacked up no matter what we do, foxnews and donald fraud and all the republican crooks put all their political energy into feeding them red meat, there's no way they're not going to be redlining it come election day.

our best strategy is to forget about trying to depress the right-wing vote and to focus on energizing the left.

We lead by example.
If we don't care, why should they?
This is the lesson they will draw.

when Pelosi wouldn’t impeach Bush. How did 2008 work out?

It’s illogical to think that someone who wants Trump removed from office will stay home in 20 and let him get re-elected.

They are not playing: they know climate change is real, they have no economic hope, no safety net etc
They're done waiting for someone to push "gradual change" at a snails pace.

People can of course look at that as a bunch of spoiled young kids, or as a budding revolution.
