(23,002 posts)Who cares how she helped? She helped. Like she ALWAYS does. That was quite a stretch about the 'tones'.

(15,512 posts)which I have self-deleted. The tone was antithetical to the goals of DU.
I was angry the author of the tweet was dismissive of the effectiveness of the church community in raising funds to rebuild their churches. You may not see that in the tweet - but I do.
Of course the fundraising on gofundme may be a result of Hillary calling it to our attention. Also Chrissy Teigen, social media sharing, announcements at churches that weekend, etc - this is how people find out about fundraising on gofundme.
I have no reason to doubt that Hillary contributed $2 million - you were right in pointing out that if she donated $2M, it would not be through gofundme.
Scrolling through the donations on the gofundme page reveals that most are small dollar donations - $10, $20. To me that indicates the campaign started by the church.
It also occurred to me that if someone posted that Tweet with intent to distract or cause divisiveness then my previous post unintentionally supported that goal.

(18,235 posts)she would have donated through Go Fund Me?
And you think her having amplified the request for donations was racist?
But you "love Hillary"?
Here...have a donut.
