(32,653 posts)as special guest, and when asked about impeachment, he said he's "not there yet." THIS is why the public is not on board. We can't even get our own messaging straight. Any thinking adult can see that trump has done several impeachable things. Yet so many elected democrats refuse to state it simply and clearly. So how the hell will the general public get there when they turn on Real Time or other shows and see responses like that??? SMFH

(63,803 posts)from us, remember the Muslim ban and how people rallied to support them and then the politicians were running off to airports.
We the people have the power. We did it for the mid terms we can drive our point.

Impeachment is a political process. The case needs to be won politically.

(5,693 posts)If Democratic politicians can't bring themselves to speak out in support of impeachment, how can we expect everyday people to be in favor of it? The Dems need to STEER public sentiment instead of passively waiting for it to change.

(6,709 posts)In terms of public opinion we are at a point equivalent to when the Watergate hearings* started. Things are known, but almost none of it is in the public sphere and there is much more that needs investigating. In public. In full view. Do that for 3 or 6 months and watch that percentage change.
*which were not the same thing as the impeachment hearings: the first started in May 73; the second a year later. I don't think the preliminary stage will take that long, since we know so much already

(8,908 posts)We need the investigations and hearings to lay out and reveal important details to the public and show the clear case for impeachment through the hearings process. But we do need to get going - and aggressively push back on the clock burning tactics by Trump and his lackeys. Anybody trying to ignore subpoenas or lawful requests like the tax returns need to be immediately met with force, i.e. arrests, jail, fines etc. to assure key witness compliance without any more delaying.
Its time for the House to begin its own "landing the plane".
