2. I just was watching the local San Diego news

and they spoke with a woman who was there and she knew one of the victims (a friend) and also the shooter who was the victim's brother. That would make it a crime for personal reasons instead of a religious hate crime. I have only heard this just now and no one else has mentioned this so it may not be true.

3. On msnbc now

Someone on msnbc (the mayor of the town- Poway) now who was at the scene says there was a fatality and it was a hate crime. Someone there apparently stopped the shooter preventing more injuries.

5. Believe it or not but the local news isn't showing anything but sports.

I had to get it on the cable news rerun from 8AM. Anyway, a lady that had tatoo sleeves was the person who I saw who said she knew the guy. Now they are saying that the shooter did say something to make the sheriff say it was definitely a hate crime but he won't say what the guy said.

My friend's mom is living in a Jewish community center in Poway and I am hoping she was not near this one.

I have not heard anything about that so I guess it was wrong. I hope your friend is ok. Seems like someone stopped him and his gun locked. I have not watched news all day.

7. The local news didn't cover it until AFTER CNN had it on

for a couple of hours already.

Yes, my friend's mom is 2 miles south of the site of the shooting, thank goodness. I sent her the info about the shooter and she told me her son graduated from the same high school and had his dad as his physics teacher. I feel badly for his family. Apparently the mom was heard crying when the police escorted her inside her home, "...but he didn't even have a rifle".

8. I would think they would cover it to warn people. That is good they are ok

and fantastic there were not more killed and injured. It must be terrible for his family, assuming they had no clue about his crazy views etc. and that he was capable of this.
