Happy Birthday Willie Nelson!!!

EIGHTY SIX YEARS YOUNG TODAY!!!!

Willie Nelson: 10 Essential No. 1s

Willie Nelson will go down in history as one of country music’s most prolific hit-makers. In a radio interview from 1996, he revealed he wrote and co-wrote “Crazy,” “Funny How Time Slips Away” and “Night Life” within one week. To date, Nelson has written more than 2,500 songs, recorded more than 250 albums and appeared in more than 25 films. But ironically enough, some of his greatest hits were covers.

He is a Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement award winner, a Kennedy Center Honoree and a member of both the Country Music and Songwriters Halls of Fame. He won the CMA for entertainer of the year in 1979 and in 2012, and he was the first recipient of the organization’s Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.

Essentially, he is a national treasure.

While he prepares to release his new studio album God’s Problem Child on April 28, here are 10 essential Nelson No. 1s:

Willie Nelson’s 86th Birthday to Be Celebrated With SiriusXM Concert Special

Willie Nelson turns 86 on Monday and his curated SiriusXM channel Willie’s Roadhouse is celebrating with four days of special programming this weekend.

Dubbed “Willie Nelson’s 4-Day Birthday Weekend,” the one-hour block kicks off April 27th at 7:00 p.m./ET and airs at various times through Tuesday night. The special consists of a conversation between Nelson and his daughter Paula, recorded at his kitchen counter during March’s Luck Reunion, the annual music fest held at Nelson’s ranch outside Austin, Texas. Nelson’s full 45-minute Luck Reunion performance follows the interview, with special guest Nathaniel Rateliff joining the country icon and his sons Lukas and Micah on the show-closing gospel medley of “I’ll Fly Away” and “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.”

of a decent human being - authentic to the bone marrow.

I think he's a global treasure. When I think country, he's always on my mind - and he's done some wicked reggae as well.

Early on, I really didn't like him or his music (silly me). As time went on, I grew to appreciate his acting ability and his humanitarian undertaking. I even enjoy his music now! He is a truly awesome human being with great talent! Happy birthday, Willie, and many more from one of your fans!
