... about what was in the report he flat out lied about what was in the report in order to keep a cover up
of the greatest crime in American history covered up.

(40,206 posts)It was an outrageous cover-up.
No doubt that Trump, Barr, and others obstructed justice in orchestrating a massive cover-up.

1. Mischaracterize the contents - oops
2. Barr released the Mueller letter - he meant to do it because it was going to come out anyways.
more to come, stay tune . .
This is exactly why he was hired, to cover up.
Back in 1992, the last time Bill Barr was U.S. attorney general, iconic New York Times writer William Safire referred to him as Coverup-General Barr because of his role in burying evidence of then-President George H.W. Bushs involvement in Iraqgate and Iron-Contra.

when and if the Russians tried to contact them to let them know ASAP and they didn't.

(3,433 posts)... recall that the audience for the move is the Trump base.
Always substitute "his base" for "the public" and all seemingly irrational conclusions suddenly make sense.
They are his political firewall. They do t require facts or truth. Political lies will race out through Fox News and into the 30%+ who will then use the lies to keep from expressing outrage which keeps impeachment at bay.

(3,433 posts)... he literally released the report that conflicted with his own summary.
It was a PR move designed to diffuse political pressure on the GOP Senators and Dem House members who might otherwise have to support Impeachment.
The entire Trump strategy, including crazy Rudy on air, was following this purpose. They were trying to control the political narrative.
Which is importantly different than a cover up.
I challenge your wording be sure we run the real risk of looking like conspiracy nuts if we mischaracterize important judgements like this because we won't be able to back up our claims. We have to be accurate to be pursuasive.

(4,032 posts)He should be charged, removed from office, and jailed. Like everybody else in this clown show of an administration, he is thumbing his nose at the impartiality that comes with the job as the head of DOJ.The DOJ, as we all well know, is not an extension of the White House. Barrs supposed to maintain independence in order to be unbiased and trusted.
So much for protocol. Its just another example of the destruction of institutional norms and our very democracy by a crazed wanna-be dictator.
John Bolton on CNN this morning: When dealing with authoritarian regimes, one swift kick at the door and the whole edifice comes down. I can only hope that Bolton sees the dichotomy of his statement, and further hope that the door to this corrupt and dangerous Trump administration comes tumbling down. One good kick is all we need, and by this, I am not implying any act of violence, rather another predictable fuck up on the part of whats his name, like getting hold of his taxes, money laundering, vote rigging, and you know the rest.
