Pew Research: Political Typology QuizLast edited Sun May 5, 2019, 07:59 PM - Edit history (1)
In view of Pelosi saying to "own the center left mainstream," I thought it would be fun to find out where I might fall in the spectrum. I knew where I THOUGHT I placed in the full spectrum.
So here it is, for anyone who might find it interesting to take the quiz. https://www.people-press.org/quiz/political-typology/ My results were the middle of the left (I forget what the quiz called it), but that can be deceiving, since that's an average of views on different topics. My view on one topic (like the environment) may be further left, but my view on another may be further right, averaging out to center left. Anyway, have fun!

4. That would be a great name. DU doesn't let you change, tho, does it?
I don't think so. Too bad. But proudlib is great, too.
I got my weird name a couple of decades ago for other reasons, and I stuck w/it for various things. I was into a "bee" thing, and had been listening to the old Jimmy Rogers song "Honeycomb." If only I could change it. |

6. Solid Liberal
Highly educated and politically engaged, Solid Liberals hold consistently liberal values. They back a robust role for government and are strong advocates of the social safety net. Large majorities view the current economic system as unfair and see economic inequality as a major problem. They take broadly positive views of immigrants, and fully 99% think being open to people from around the world is an essential part of the nation’s identity. Most say more needs to be done to address both racial discrimination and obstacles to women’s achievement. They support same-sex marriage and believe homosexuality should be accepted by society. Solid Liberals are the most Democratic of all typology groups: nearly two-thirds (64%) identify as Democrats, another 35% lean toward the Democratic Party.

7. Disaffected Democrats
This majority-minority group mostly identifies as Democratic or leans toward the Democratic Party. Disaffected Democrats strongly believe the economic system unfairly favors powerful interests and that business corporations make too much profit. Relatively few believe their family has achieved the American Dream, and 24% believe it is out of reach for their family. Most say the government should do more to help the needy and that poor people have hard lives because government benefits do not go far enough to help them live decently. In contrast to other Democratic-oriented groups, a majority (63%) characterizes government as “almost always wasteful and inefficient.”
BTW, I'm white, but disabled. |

10. Did somebody hack the site?
I get to page 17, select my choice, hit submit and I get an error stating it’s required to answer all questions. Anyone else having trouble?
Betcha it accepts “Republican”, but I’m not going to submit that! |

11. User error
I didn’t see the radio button for legalese.
Solid Liberal here, which is no surprise since I get about -9/-9 at PoliticalCompass.org, which makes me slightly more radical than Noam Chomsky. |

13. Reactionary? WTF??
Just kidding..
Your best fit is... Solid Liberals along with 16% of the public. Liberalism is only a means to an end for me. The questions are far too limited in sorting out the radicals among us ![]() |
