Trump hasn't attacked the wrong country resulting in the deaths of almost half a million people like W did, yet. Hopefully that won't happen before Trump is out.

W was illegitimate also, chosen over Gore by the Supreme Court. I think the difference between George W Bush and Trump is that Bush was misguided and wrong, but Trump is a sociopath who does note care about anything but himself.

Trump is destructive and corrosive to our institutions- Free Press, the FBI/Justice Department, the Courts. George W was not trying to destroy our country, whatever awful stuff W and Cheney were up to.

In 2008-09. Stock market tanked, unemployment was record high and Iraq was lost. Trump would escape the worst president title if he loses in 2020. Because this economy is too hot to go down to Bush-43 levels in 18 months remaining, and he has not started a shooting war yet.

However if Trump wins 2nd term, he will certainly be in the running for the worst president title.

I'm sure if he is in office long enough, he'll make Bush look like a piker.

With no major wars and a roaring economy, even a bad incumbent would be a shoo-in for re-election, and their approval ratings would he well north of 50%. The fact that Trump routinely drops under 40% and is arguably the underdog going into the 2020 election shows how inept he is.

His blatant lies and utter ignorance of how things actually work has had zero consequences for him so far. He tweets falsehoods with glee. His only rationalizations for his actions are simplistic tautologies (getting along with murderous dictators is a good thing, not a bad thing). He's thumbing his nose at all of us.

He is using Russian propaganda techniques and confidence-man techniques on the American public openly and brazenly. He's already bent every department of the federal government to his will, filling key positions with sycophants and fellow criminals. The Senate is utterly compliant. Everyone with a conscience has been driven out of the White House and the Cabinet. Barr is using the AG's office to be the president's personal lawyer. McCabe is keeping the FBI's profile as low as possible. No one hears a peep from the CIA. Now he's pulled White House credentials from the independent Press, only speaking to propaganda outlets

For an Imbecile, he's doing an effective job of turning this country into an Authoritarian shithole.

You are right that he should not be underestimated. Sociopaths are often like idiot savants- they have stupidity and blind spots, but they also have weird skills at manipulating others and promoting themselves. It is all about narcissism. Everything must be about them, reflect them. Their world view is warped and they know nothing but self promotion, but they are often highly skilled at that, since this is what they spend their entire life doing.

Trump has had a lifetime of experience in self-promotion, fraud, and cheating. He is basically doing what he has done all of his life, albeit now on a giant global stage with very high stakes. Trump is a liar and a cheat. He is certainly a con man. He needs to be stopped.

When I say he is the Worst President in History, I mean that he is not just corrupt (a number of Presidents have been). Trump is worse than corrupt- he is a mentally ill narcissist and is a threat to global and national security. There has never been a worse person in this office. Trump must be voted out in 2020.

I used the word 'yet' because he could still get into it with Iran and that would be a disaster. There's also Venezuela too. Hopefully the House will keep him too busy trying to deflect subpoenas so he doesn't have time for any of that.

By external measures, yes, George W was worse. What I mean about Trump is that he is the worst person ever to be President. George W was a rich asshole frat boy from an elitist family who got elected President, but even he is not a sociopathic narcissist like Trump.

So yes, by external metrics (wars, bad economy, low approval ratings) George W seems worse, but by examination of the mind and character, Trump is much, much worse, in my opinion. Bush was just stupid and actively wrong, but Trump is pathological.

We need the perspective of time before we know if Trump will have damaged the country like James Buchanan did. I have no doubt, however, that he will be considered the most corrupt, immoral, and unethical president in our history.

Buchanan, Harding and Andrew Johnson usually round out the bottom of most ratings. There was one announced in January of this year where Trump entered the ranking at 42, in company of the aforementioned trio.
