If iPhones (which are all assembled in China) get a 25% tariff slapped on them

there will be many pissed off Americans.

Now that said I believe tariffs are only applied to the value added in that country and not the whole price of the item but I am not sure.

Anyway Apple stock is down $150 billion in market cap in just a week.

1. People will realize they don't need a new phone every year. However, it is more than just Apple.

Boeing, Soy Farmers, autos, and a whole array of products will be affected, and it will be American consumers that will pay the price, and most likely not buy that new car or phone unless absolutely necessary. This would have an affect on sales, and probable cutback on labor, and we will see what trickle down economics really means

and then post stuff about how it is completely impossible for anyone to save any money whatsoever.

There will be some reduction in purchases, but a lot of people will simply go into greater debt.
