We assisted Saddam in the 80's because of his war with Iran. Once that ended, Saddam was no longer our "friend."

9/11 was the excuse to go into Afghanistan (somewhat justified), and was twisted into the false justification for Iraq. Surrounding Iran was the strategic premise.

After completion of Phase One, we would control Iraq's oil, Iran's oil, and oil from the "Stans".

It was common knowledge. Nobody seemed to care. Second Gulf War comes along and no one remembers the hit list. They take Colin Powell's word for it that there are WMDs. Why? Bill Kristol dissolves the PNAC in 2006 and forms Foreign Policy Initiative in 2009. The FPI dissolved in 2017. These are very strange happenings if you ask me. PNAC was prelude to the Gulf War II. FPI, though? I believe FPI was a no-no because they viewed Russia as an enemy.
