Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona was among the three Democratic senators who voted for the confirmation of Attorney General William Barr earlier this year, and Arizona Central is reporting that Sinema is planning to meet one-on-one with the U.S. attorney general sometime this week although a spokesperson for her office did not specify what day the meeting will take place or what they will be discussing.
The 42-year-old Arizona senator and Tucson native, who narrowly defeated Republican Martha McSally in 2018, has been among the most centrist Democrats in the U.S. Senate sometimes inspiring comparisons to Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia. According to FiveThirtyEight, Sinema was voting in line with President Donald Trump 58% of the time in March. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), in contrast, voted with Trump only 13.6% of the time that month, FiveThirtyEight reported.
Nonetheless, Sinema is taking issue with Trumps assertion of executive privilege with House Democrats, who have requested an unredacted copy of special counsel Robert Muellers final report for the Russia investigation. Trump has vowed to defy all subpoenas from investigative committees in the House of Representatives, which now has a Democratic majority.
In an official written statement earlier this month, Sinema said, the presidents assertion of executive privilege with the attorney generals support undermines what should be our shared goal of protecting America from foreign influence and meddling in our elections.

Sinema is NOT a "centrist Democrat."
She is a CONSERVATIVE Democrat, as we see from her vote for Barr and other things.
She has also stated that she is not progressive, which is the rigid position of the Republican Party, practically a religion with them these days, while to be liberal in American politics has always meant to be progressive. We believe in using government to advance our wellbeing when private means will not.

Just objecting to the mischaracterization of the vast majority of liberal Democrats. It's done very often as a dishonest smear, too often for anyone to claim it's innocent.

(58,785 posts)elect even a conservative Democrat. Blue dogs tend to vote very roughly around half and half Democrat and Republican.
I don't know the strategy behind her vote, but it's very possible that, since it would be a done deal with a majority of 2 without her, she added her vote to up her with-Trump percentage and please her electorate without actually doing any damage. At least that sort of thing is very commonly done by blue dogs, who are always being pulled and threatened from both directions.
