AL.com reports that Ozark, Ala. police officers charged 36-year-old Brandy Murrah with two counts of forgery after authorities received evidence that someone had forged the results of two drug tests performed by A&J Lab Collections, which is owned by Murrah. Now authorities say that the two cases might just be the tip of the iceberg, alleging that multiple drug screenings may have been changed by Murrah,<redacted>—is only 36 years old.

Murrah had a contract with Dale County’s Department of Human Resources Dependency court to perform drugs and paternity test on individuals involved in custody cases, but was not involved in criminal cases. The lab company was paid by the individual or reimbursed by DHR, if the testee could not afford it.

“We have no idea at this time how many people did not get their children back because of Ms. Murrah’s alleged fraudulent reports,” Dale County, Ala., District Attorney Kirke Adams told the Dothan Eagle. “In my opinion, all cases affected by Murrah’s alleged actions must be redone in order to be fair.”

The Murrah investigation was prompted after someone’s drug screening turned up positive. The person called the physician who signed the paperwork and the doctor replied that she did not recall signing the drug test for A&J Lab Collections or Murrah. The Ozark Police Department, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Dale County District Attorney’s Office, Dale County Department of Human Resources and Dale County court officials are now sifting through the dozens of tests that Murrah’s company completed each month to see how many may have been altered.

“We anticipate a lot,” said Adams.

Murrah is currently out on $2,000 bond.

2. Two things: WHY would someone do this?

It could ruin people's lives? Never mind...people are horrible in many cases.

4. Apparently, this woman was deciding who should have custody, etc.

It seems this person was being the judge and jury on cases. She apparently thought she knew what was best for the kids.

If you ask her, I'd put money on her saying she's a good Christian woman and was trying to save the kids from their sinful parents.

7. A doctor turned her in:

https://www.dothanfirst.com/news/top-stories/dale-county-woman-accused-of-falsifying-paternity-tests-drug-screenings/1994531168

"Without releasing too much, we received a complaint from a doctor's office in the Florida area advising us that they believed a document had been forged," Sgt. Cody Evans said. "Some of the testing (was) never approved by their facility, but I can't go any further at this time."

A source tells WDHN that, if the allegations are true, several children may have been wrongfully taken from their families by the Ozark judicial system. She allegedly pocketed money by keeping lab fees for herself.

The Ozark Police Department says it's possible that these forgeries could have been made over a period of years and could have spilled into other jurisdictions.

"Information has been discussed by the suspect by other jurisdictions, but we are in the current process of making contact with them to make sure they are aware so they can do their own investigation or join the investigation," Evans said.

Another source said Murrah, under her previous last name Williams, was convicted on five counts of fraudulent use of a credit card in Houston County in 2013. Court records show that her case ended in a guilty plea resulting in her being sentenced to 14 months in prison and three years of probation.

Murrah was booked in the Dale County Jail at 4:25 p.m. but was released later on. She faces two fourth-degree forgery charges according to jail records.
