Through all the news today about the senseless killing and gun violence on Virginia Beach, we hear concern about what kind of gun it was.
WHAT FUCKING DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?
12 people are dead by gunshot. More wounded. Carnage is what i call that.
And people are worried about what kind of fucking gun it was.
It was A GUN!

(31,261 posts)The more people that get shot, the greater the chance that people will be killed. A guy that walks in a place with an 8 shot pistol has to be a real good shot to kill 4 people, no so if he has an assualt style weapon where he can literally spray a wall of bullets everywhere.

(2,541 posts)You are correct and it is something that people should see so that the wake of devastation left behind after a horrible event like this is understood.

(10,141 posts)Usually it's semi-automatic pistols, with high-capacity magazines (>10 rounds), and/or AR15 pattern military-style "assault" rifles, with magazines of up to 30 rounds. These weapons are capable of high rates of fire, they're the most lethal and are the kinds of firearms most want banned.

(11,285 posts)I does make a difference. Several previous posts have explained why specific gun types (and magazine size) can greatly influence the number of casualties. Fully understand the frustration and outrage .. but we are only now just barely gaining some traction on the idea of "sensible gun legislation." Right now that would mean talking an outright ban on bump stocks, and limitations on over sized magazine clips. That's where "sensible legislation" is at the moment. And I know that sounds like baby steps .. but that's where we are.
