Conflict of Interest: USSC oversees the "trial" of impeachment and can't rule on itself.

i think this is nancy's biggest fear, and she wont pull the trigger till she knows the courts will back up we the people.

(13,866 posts)This scenario would never happen. The House would investigate clearly defined crimes, and the Senate trial would be based on those crimes.
I think Dershowitz is imagining some preposterous action where Congress went after a President for something that clearly isnt, or wasnt, illegal. Like a Congress full of anti-abortion fanatics who had just pushed through a constitutional amendment outlawing abortion impeaching because they discovered the President had had an abortion when she was younger. But none of this makes sense. Dershowitz and Trump are just trying to confuse the issue as usual.
