Maher's right that we should be calling the Trump/Republican "tariffs" what they are: taxes.

Trump gets it. He's already hip to the fact that the American people would hate the idea that they are the ones paying the "tariffs." That's why Trump brazenly lies and says the foreign exporters like China are the ones doing the paying.

The tariffs are taxes on the American people. I wish we would get more with the program on this. The Trump/Republican "trade tax" is being levied on the American people's wallets, not on China. Trump is punishing any American who wants or needs foreign supplies. The Republicans in office continue to back Trump in servile lockstep while he raises taxes repeatedly on the American people by executive order.

1. Agree. But it is more than a tax, it will impact our entire economy negatively. Worse, it will

increase hostilities with other countries. Even worse, it could have decades long impact that the election of Democrats can't easily rectify. Finally, by increasing prices of foreign goods and parts, prices for products totally produced here in USA will increase, as well. American producers will raise their prices with this new opportunity.

But, hey, trumpers -- and even some Democrats -- have promoted America First when it comes to trade. We got it.
