DONALD TRUMP landed at Stansted Airport to begin his three-day state visit to the United Kingdom but reporters attending his arrival appeared surprised to discover no red carpet was rolled out to welcome the US President.
Donald Trump will be meeting with the Queen at Buckingham Palace to inspect the Guard of Honour before being treated to a state dinner with Prince Harry in attendance. But when Air Force One landed at Stansted Airport on Monday morning, Sky News host Adam Boulton expressed his surprise when he noticed no red carpet had been rolled out to welcome the US President. Speaking to reporter Deborah Haynes at the London airport, Mr Boulton said: "I can see from the picture where you are theres actually no strip of carpet laid down.
"I assumed there might be."
Ms Haynes also appeared surprised at the lack of red carpet on the tarmac or the stairs leading to the plane, saying: "Good point, there isnt a red carpet - dont know why that is. Its just grey tarmac.
"But there is a very official-looking line of RAF guards standing to attention in their uniforms waiting for the President to arrive.
"But it doesnt look very formal but you are right - there is no red carpet."
