Questions for any British/UK members of DU

How is Jeffrey Corbyn viewed by the British?

If he is viewed favorably, could he use Trump's efforts to meddle in the UK politics to rally the people to vote for him? I would imagine that he could run on the I am not Trump's puppet, boot Trump out of UK politics, do you really want to allow Trump to trash the NHS system, and so on.

He was seen as a straightforward man who stuck to his principles, and got a lot of youth support, but his attempts to be all things to all people about Brexit, and his unwillingness to confront antisemitism in party members, had lost him a lot of support. One section of the country has hated him always, seeing him as a Marxist.

Certainly, opposing Trump will do him some good. The only people who like Trump are the kind of people who'd never support Corbyn, and probably never any Labour leader. How Trump affects things is more, at the moment, about how the candidates for Tory party leader approach him; they have to work out how the party members who take the final vote regard Trump. They won't be attacking Trump, but some may carefully keep their distance, while others will think that he's helpful to them as a "not the EU" alternative.
