(5,407 posts)I was a little post traumatic, well, maybe more than a little. alcohol and marijuana. I don't blame her for leaving me. all I had was an old Chevrolet (the really privileged homeless have cars, and mine actually worked.) so I was able to camp out in the parking lot where I worked until I got a paycheck and moved to a $50 per week motel which was good enough until I could get a little ahead. that was 1976, so I had a "brush with homelessness." enough that I can empathize, and help a little.
"there but for the grace of god go I."

(494 posts)Buy a van and go live out of it for six months. The reaction you will get from most folks will amaze you, they will,
1.Think you have lost your mind.
2. Think you are broken somehow.
3.Most folk will treat you very poorly, tho there are a lot of kind people out there who are very happy to help.
4.The authorities will automatically think you are a criminal or are up to something.
I was homeless for a long time, trust me society can be very judgmental.
