Trump defends deal with Mexico that critics say will do little to curb migrant crisis

President Trump and his allies on Sunday declared victory in the tariffs standoff with Mexico after the administration appeared to have secured significant commitments from the Mexican government to stem the flow of Central American migrants at the U.S. border.

The agreement gave Trump fresh ammunition against his critics, who have pointed out that his controversial negotiating tactics have yielded far fewer results than promised on multiple issues during his time in office.

Whether the deal will greatly reduce the number of migrants entering the United States remains to be seen. But it nonetheless represents a serious effort by Mexico to do more on an issue central to Trump’s reelection campaign after he threatened to impose a 5 percent across-the-board tariff on one of the United States’ top trading partners.

Mexico announced Friday night that it would implement “strong measures” to reduce the flow of migrants across its territory toward the southern U.S. border, including the unprecedented deployment of thousands of Mexican national guard troops. It also agreed to expand a program allowing Central American migrants to stay in Mexico while they await the adjudication of their asylum claims.

and create distraction.

But mostly I think Trump wanted the handful of capitalist kings who rule America to come and pay him homage and some attention. Then tell him how wonderful he is. I'm sure they obliged. All those rich capitalist need to keep Trump happy and have regular meetings with Trump like Bill Gates does. They need to praise Trump and keep him happy so that he doesn't destroy America.

They better snap to it. The Koch brothers, Jeff Bezos, Zuckerberg, Bloomberg, the Waltons and the Google kings need to kiss up more and keep Trump happy so that he keeps the gravy train coming. Or at a minimum they need to kiss and bow to Trump to keep him from dropping bombs on the US.

Get to work Alice Walton, quit drinking and driving and running over women in Arkansas, and get to kissing up to the psychopath and his sex worker you put in the White House.

because he knew that the GOP wouldn't back him up in the long run. He figures that if he gets credit for making the deal, he can get more credit for reworking it later on if it proves to be insufficient. Then, the GOP will be less likely to oppose him if he's shown that Republican voters give him credit for having made the attempt in the first place.

To project , and distract , and claim he's done something great , when he clearly again hasn't. He did the same thing with NK, and Russia, and China, also claiming something he knows is completely false after creating another illusion for self promotion. He's a fraud, and a professional con artist . Like he claims others use fake news when its the truth and he's lying. It is only getting worse with trumps conditions quickly declining, and it shows .

Venezuelan asylum seekers really bad right now. It's ugly and trump's deplorables are going to love all the terror.
