The Pelosi Decision: It will forever live in history as famous or infamous.

Impeach or not impeach, that is the decision that has been forced upon her. Fate has found Pelosi. No one knows, including Pelosi, what the right decision will be. Pelosi is a politician who will weigh the political risks. It may guide her when she decides what to do. I do not know if Pelosi is a risk taker. Does she have the ability to set aside great political risk when making a decision? Sometimes that is the right thing to do. Sometimes it is not.

For example; Obama faced great political risk when he sent the Seals in to take out Bin Laden. He had no direct evidence Bin Laden was there. If Bin Laden was not there and the mission failed it may have ended his presidency. Obama set aside the political risks and took a shot. It was the right decision.

As I watch Pelosi and the Democrats take action against Trump and others, sometimes it seems they are very serious about getting too impeachment. Sometimes I see things that make it look like that they are not serious about impeaching Trump. For example, why has't Mueller been subpoenaed to testify. Why wait? Pelosi with her own words has suggested she wants to vote Trump out, not impeach him.

Because she is a politician what she is suggesting may be true or it may be cover for what she plans on doing. We don't know. Politicians can always change their minds.

The bottom line is, I am glad I am not in Pelosi's shoes. Whatever choice she makes will change the course of history.

1. This stuff is not over. I support speaker Pelosi, right now she is exactly what we need in a ...

speaker: someone who can keep Congress from over playing their hands and jumping the gun. Impeachment is not an action, it is a process. And it is working.

3. Thank you

It seems that too many people want it to be a thing - something that happens on a given day and time so they can say "HA! We GOT him!" But that's not how it works.

And Pelosi is working to make sure that the first day is not the best and highest point of the whole process, when the base feels ecstatic, whereupon everything goes downhill from there with no actual results.

6. I also support Pelosi.

I said nothing about impeaching Trump now. My post was about the decision she must make. No one knows if Pelosi will impeach or not.

11. You keep saying you support Pelosi

Yet you do little but complain about her, question her tactics and timing, and post sources that are critical of her - while always couching it as complimentary, as in this OP.

I'm starting to think that maybe you're not as supportive as you claim to be.

2. It's premature to subpoena Mueller

According to reports, the House is still trying to work out Mueller's testimony with him they have to do it that way. They can't just subpoena him without making a good faith effort to negotiate the terms of his testimony - no court will enforce a subpoena without a showing of a good faith effort to get him to testify voluntarily. And subpoenaing him at this point would actually slow everything down since, if he refused and they wanted to take it to court, the court would send them back to negotiate.

These negotiations can take a long time, but they must be done. Since Mueller has never indicated that he would refuse to appear, the only likely issues are the scope and logistics of his testimony. And I'm sure there are issues that we're not even aware of involving national security and what will and won't be appropriate areas of inquiry.

This is moving along - and while it may be going too slowly for some people's taste, it's actually going pretty quickly in congressional and legal timeline terms.

4. Time is short.

I understand what you are saying. The problem is everything the Democrats attempt to do is blocked and then all we hear is excuses. I am tired of excuses.

I recently posted this, We need the Democrats to put one run on the scoreboard, just one, to give us hope we can win the game. They seem to be getting shutout.

One, just one open hearing with someone that mattered would put a run on the board. John Dean is not going to put a run on the board.

8. I'm glad they're taking the time to do this right rather than rushing to put runs on the scoreboard

And you have no idea what effect Dean's testimony will have.

Two weeks ago, people were beating the Democrats about the head to "lay out a narrative." Now that's what they're doing and people are complaining about that.

This is some complicated stuff and the substance and context has to be explained. Dean is part of the effort to do that. Why don't we wait to see what he says, along with other witnesses in hearings moving forward, before declaring this is all a bust?

9. I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for two years.

For one run to be put on the board. It is getting old and at some point soon it will be too late. John Dean having a big impact? I have doubts. Waiting two years for something to happen is not rushing. I have been very patient, we all have.

10. The Democrats have only been in power since January

so I'm not sure why you were waiting for them "to put a run on the board" for the first two years of Trump's term.

Fortunately, the Democrats aren't structuring their strategy and approach according to your need for instant gratification. It's not all about you.

12. Give me a break.

I know how long the Democrats have been in power. I was also talking about the Mueller report and all the investigations that have been going on for years. I guess for some people you have to spell it . Nothing has touched Trump.

Stop twisting peoples posts.

5. Just thinking... what if Pelosi is against impeachment or the use of the 25th because age will

certainly be a topic in any discussions or proceedings to get rid of Trump and she doesn't want the issue of age raised bc it will bring unnecessary attention to the age of Biden. Both Pelosi and Biden are members of the established guard. Is she a Biden supporter and negating the talk of impeachment of Trump will dampen the discussions of age and give Biden cover?
