Rep. Ro Khanna just now said Pelosi is trying to convince anti-impeachment Dems otherwise

He just said this to a caller on Thom Hartmann's radio show. So it sounds like she's working behind the scenes to get anti impeachment Democrats in the House to change their minds.

Khanna, a member of the House's Progressive Caucus, appears weekly on the show and takes calls. He just said this about Pelosi in the past few minutes.

I've been trying to explain to people here for weeks that there's a lot going on behind the scenes that we can't see from here, likely including a variety of efforts by the Speaker and others to move Members from no to yes.

15. It's so strange to me that some people here not only assume they know better than she does

but that they are all knowing and if they can't see it, it's not happening.

I can't imagine, for example, going onto an automotive website and arguing constantly with mechanics and insisting that NASCAR drivers don't know how to race (and that I'm in any position to tell them how to do it) - because I own and drive a car and occasionally change my own oil and jumped my cousin's battery once.

26. True. But pressure from the public is helpful in

that regard if, in fact, it is correct that she has been working to change anti-impeachment Dem caucus members’ minds. It’s always important for our leaders to have vocal support for their aims. Criticism IS support for a particular aim. In this case, if in fact what the Congressman said is true, the same aim.

People need to be pressuring their own Members to change their minds. Calling and fussing at Pelosi is a waste of time.

38. Disparaging her experience and her ability to lead is different from the pressure you're calling for

I've written to her office and the offices of other members of the House to pressure them towards starting an impeachment inquiry. But I don't agree with those here at DU who feel she's incapable of making a good decision on impeachment. It's because right now there aren't enough Dems in the House that would vote for it. I was glad to hear Rep. Khanna's assertion about her activities behind the scenes.

I've been doing a whole lot of it myself. Being old and having the benefit of perspective is a good thing but it also makes me realize how much damn time it can take for justice to happen. And sometimes, as in the case of the Bush administrations, it never happens.

What sours me is the questioning of Pelosi's ability to lead. She's a precise tactician. So I find myself reaching for patience and being rewarded by the ever increasing numbers of Dem House members announcing that they now support an inquiry.

The simple reason it's apparent she is the sole decider. I am so curious, although I will probably never know, of the 235 Dems in the house who haven't come out for starting the impeachment process, are they in that position because they are following her lead and rationale (i.e. waiting for green light)? Or are they truly undecided? Or do they have their own personal reasons for being against it (retribution in their district) ?

an impeachment inquiry against a particular party unless it's for an unfounded reason, like blow job lying when you thought it wasn't sexual intercourse. No matter how much truth the Dems have on their side, the onslaught of slimy lies which will flow as soon as articles pass the House will require the maximum type and volume of political ordnance.

None of the precedents of Clinton's impeachment will mean a thing. We had no Faux News at that time.
