2. We have those in Elkhart County, Indiana

You vote electronically and it spits out your ballot with all the choices marked. You then put that ballot in an electronic vote counter, and the ballot falls into a lockbox which can be accessed for manual paper recounts if needed.

4. Why can't the vote counter be rigged?

Why not just let people hand count paper ballots with observers present from both parties?

I have been voting into a black hole for decades, no paper trail, no nothing. Pa. is getting new voting machines but Republicans are fighting to keep them out until after the election.

7. Ask your County Clerk Recorder or County Elections Office how it is done where you are...

Just ask. One of the peculiarities of our system is that we have 50 different sets of laws about voting, and then individual counties may have different voting apparatus.

8. That's what we use in WA. And we can go online and make sure our ballots were checked in

and get a replacement if it somehow gets disappeared.

No system is perfect but I feel a lot more secure than with many of those machines.

6. The real problem is when county results are zapped thru the ether to an unsecured computer...

...and the computer does the big tally.

I am a big believer in having a paper trail, but let's make it all the way up the line. And for those who think the counting must all be done that very night so the tv stations can call it and the balloons can drop -- bull. Nothing in the Constitution mandates that we cater to television anchors.

9. Yes -- it takes longer with paper ballots but I'd rather get it right, even if it takes longer. n/t
