Speaker Pelosi finds herself in sort of a predicament. There is an increasing demand for impeachment from her caucus. She does not feel that the time is right.
She is not specifically against impeachment but she does not think it wise at this time. She believes that there needs to be more evidence and more justification before they jump into the fire.
The degree of obstruction and the constant breaking of norms is unprecedented. Congress is not accustomed to a White House that challenges subpoenas the way this White House does. They are challenging the very rule of law.
Speaker Pelosi wants the Courts to validate Congress' rights under the balance of powers in our Constitution. There is no guarantee that they will.
But, in my opinion, Speaker Pelosi believes this is a process that we must go thru before they light the fuse.

Personally I would rather win big in 2020 than go back to repub rule.
Trump will die a lonely old man and if we win big we can put the country back together.

(15,682 posts)But I think she is calculating the duration of impeachment hearings (with subpoenaed witnesses and document requests all coming in at a steady clip) so the maggot's crimes will be fresh in the public's mind for the 2020 election. Something like that.
Right now there's too much time in between each request. The house is pinning down the law right now - and keeping the public interested but not completely distracted.
If the house is going to put on a public impeachment hearing "show" it will have to move at a reasonable pace.
That's what I hope she is doing.
there is no strategy here, she doesn't want it - she did not want to hold people accountable for lying their way into a war either

(15,682 posts)If enough people tell her it's what they want - if the public got involved - that might help. I don't know.
I didn't think it was impeachment time up until the Mueller report came out. Now I'm ready. But she knows more than we know. That's all I can think at this point.
