It's important to ask why a trillion dollar company like Amazon paid no taxes

The answer is simple and disappointing, but it leads to another question we need to ask:

Why is a company that is not yet actually profitable (there's the hint for the first question) valued at a trillion dollars?

We should also ask why Jeff Bezos's net worth is considered to be $150 billion, when nearly all of that is based on his ownership of Amazon stock, which, again, is still not a profitable company.

(Yes, they've had quarterly and annual profits, but if Bezos had been funding Amazon by himself he'd still be in the red -- it has not made more money over the years than it has spent.)

They look at their 401K and think it's money in the bank, unfortunately. Which leads to absurdities like talking about "money being wiped out" when the spot price of a stock tanks. We really need to fix this.

impress other potential investors.

This, btw, was the essence of Trump's business plans.
